The scene begins with the screen completely black and you can only hear music in low key that begins to get louder as the image comes into focus.
EXT. OPEN ROAD – DAY
A woman is seen from inside the cabin at the wheel of a motorized vehicle. She is singing along as she drives through the road with no apparent course. In the distance she observes a silhouette of a man walking in the same direction as she is. She approaches and offers him a ride.
VERONICA
Hey where you headed? Wanna ride?
ANTHONY
(flustered) Uhm… no thanks
VERONICA
Come on! Don´t make it harder than it has to be. (smiles)
ANTHONY
Oh all right. (he gets in the car with an uneasy expression across his face as he tries to convince himself he did not just hitchhike with a psychopath)
VERONICA
Hey man chill out, it´s all good here. How bout you tell me who you are and where you´re headed?
ANTHONY
(Timidly) Well uh.. my name´s Anthony and I’m headed for nowhere or anywhere far from here.
VERONICA
Hmmm I see. How come? May I ask?
ANTHONY
I´d rather not say
VERONICA
But you must! Nowhere is a long way out from here. Plus! If not, how do I know I didn´t just bring a loony aboard?
ANTHONY
(Offended) Well in that case, how do I know that you aren´t the loony here!?
VERONICA
(To herself) Make peace not war. (To Anthony) Very well let´s talk about me. My name is Veronica but my friends call me Very. I´m from Michigan sure of that, however not quite sure where I’m goin´.
ANTHONY
Huh.. I see you´re pretty indifferent about where life takes you.
VERONICA
It´s not that I’m indifferent. It´s just that I rather let things happen on their own. What´s got you so worked up?
ANTHONY
(Annoyed) Said I’d rather leave that bit aside, haven´t I?
VERONICA
(confused and unsatisfied) Yeah I guess you have.
Anthony looks outside the window and soon

The film starts of with classical music, which is perceived as structured, cultured, and civilized music. Therefore you picture a city in your mind as the credits roll. But Night and Fog transitions to an idyllic barren countryside. The music silences and you hear a delicate flute solo, which makes you visualize a bird or butterfly. The sky dominates the picture as it symbolizes freedom and God. Below the sky there is a field,…

The scene starts out with a black screen. A man’s voice is heard in the background. The shot fades in to a map of downtown Los Angeles with words and annotations scrawled all over the page. The audience’s view is directed showing an over the shoulder shot of the main character. The viewer is given no personal details about him, not even a name. We simply know him as the Driver. His blurred reflection can be seen in the window creating an air…

    Film Music Critique

The movie opens with the main title fading in from black accompanied by a light string tone with horns backing them up (with a quick electric guitar when De Niro’s and Pacino’s names appear). This sets the overall tone for the movie presenting more of a serious / dramatic feel. The LA Metro begins to immerge into the background. The music complements the train passing, closely resembling the way Quincy Jones scored the opening of In Cold Blood with the bus passing by. There is a little change to the music when Robert De Niro’s character appears on screen which has a jazz tone that lets the audience know that this is in the city, in this case downtown Los Angeles. The music follows De Niro to an emergency hospital. At this point the music turns more intense with guitar and a prominent bass line moving the action along. There is a use of low strings moving very rapidly in the background that helps push the action along even more as he walks through the E.R. This music carries on when the scene cuts and goes to Val Kilmer making a purchase in a construction yard. The music connects the two characters by carrying over through the scene. It also has an ominous feel…

When people believe they are being indifferent to make things easier on themselves they do not think about the harm it is doing to others. By being indifferent to situations requires no emotion, much like the men who took down the twin towers indifference can never lead to something positive. Therefor indifference is much more dangerous that being hostile or angry towards a situation. Whether indifference is involved in the lose of innocent live or simply ignoring a person in need it can lead down a dangerous…

Allusion is a reference to a historical or literary person, place or even with which the reader is assumed to be familiar. In the poem, "Ithaca", the author refers to Lestrygonians, Cyclopes, and the Poseidon. Lestrygonians are cannibals who destroy all of Odysseus' ships except his own and kill the crews. A Cyclops is a ficticious creature with one eye. A Poseidon is a fierce monster.…

    Indifference vs Hatred

    • 742 Words
    • 3 Pages

Firstly, indifference can be dangerous as it allows certain situations to grow without action. For example, the Holocaust may have been even more devastating in terms of the lives lost, if the world had been indifferent. “Indifference indifference is always the friend of the enemy, for it benefits the aggressor-never his victim”. Anger or hatred can sometimes be useful when it has a purpose, for instance, being angry at the injustices during the Holocaust served as a motivational tool for some people to take action and contribute to the greater good of humanity. But indifference never has any purpose; it is just simply ignoring reality. Acts of war go ignored, tragedies happen because some people simply don’t care. Anger or hatred geared towards angry, hateful actions can be a benefit. If all surrounding countries were angry at Hitler’s actions or hated his anti-Semitic hatred, perhaps more action would have been taken. Being indifferent can be dangerous because it is simply not caring. Some issues requires us to care and do not simply…
