Screen Printing: Instruction Guide
Screen Printing: The Simpler, Less Expensive Method

Screen printing is a method that many people use to recreate designs on t-shirts, pillow cases, blankets, etc. Some big companies use complex machines in order to carry out this process, but there are easier ways. The method of screen printing described in this set of instructions is a much simpler method that takes less time and money and generally anyone can do it.

Materials: • Computer/Printer • Embroidery Hoop • Mesh/Sheer Fabric • Pencil • Water Resistant Glue

• Paint Brush • T-shirt • Fabric/Screen Printing Ink • Cardboard/Notecard • Iron

Step 1: Create An Image
The very first thing to do is choose an image to recreate. This can either be drawn out by hand or created/found on the computer. Print this image, but make sure it is the actual size that it should be on the t-shirt. This means it must be smaller than the embroidery hoop, but not bigger than the t-shirt, and not too hard to trace by hand.

Step 2: Build A Screen
Next, take the mesh/sheer fabric and stretch it over the embroidery hoop, making sure it is tight and has no overlaps. Then screw the hoop shut as tight as possible so that the fabric will not slip out of place.

Step 3: Creating A Stencil
Once the screen is built, it is time to create a stencil. Lay the image of choice down and place the screen from step 2 on top of it so that the fabric is touching the image. Use a pencil to careful trace the image onto the screen. Once the image is completely traced, remove the image and make sure the outline in pencil is easy to see.

Step 4: Prepare The Screen
The next step is one of the most important steps! Flip the screen over so that the fabric is not touching the table. Use the water resistant glue (Mod Podge) and a paint brush to fill in all the places around the image that are not supposed to show up on the shirt. This is called “negative space” and if a spot is missed

Other than the shapes that I have previously analyzed in the Statue of Liberty, the method of screen printing has created some sections of unpainted linen. These sections are seen especially in the top row of the prints in which nearly a ninety-degree right triangle forms along the right side of the statue. Another section is seen in the third row as well; an organic or unidentifiable shape is seen (one could interpret it as a rough mountain range). Within each rectangle, the light illuminates the ocean and the statue, exemplifying the work’s three dimensions. The values of colors within the repeated print varies among each rectangle, being very foggy in some shapes and incredibly distinct in others.…

3D printing can print almost anything you want to a 3D version. Thomas Jefferson writes a letter to George Wythe that states “ Has there ever been one lost since the art of printing has rendered it practicable to multiply and disperse copies? This leads us then to the only means of preserving those remains of our laws now under consideration, that is, a multiplication of printed copies.” It’s important because without the multiplication of printed copies books would have not been in the same condition as they are now. They would been eaten by bookworms, not taken care of, and if there is a fire they could have been burned and had been lost forever. 3D printing is possible because the printing press had already been invented.. 3D printing can help since a spray can be made in the 3D printer to kill the bookworms.Francis Bacon states “ The Printing Press has changed the appearance and state of the whole world,” ( Bacon, March…

When comparing the screen press to the heat press there are many variations you need to look at to decide the best way to make what is needed. The heat press is ideal for a custom design because the design is printed in sublimating ink on sublimated paper which is then heated and allows for the pattern transfer. Using this technique also allows for a lot more of a color selection and allows colors to overlap better. While the heat press allows more colors and unique designs it is very time consuming due to the heating time and the extensive cooling time. This makes the heat press a very useless way if a very large order is placed The heat press can also be used to print onto mugs, posters, plates, and a very large selection of products. The first thing that is needed to do when using the heat press is get your design and place it onto sublimating paper. To get the design on the paper, first design the image on a computer, then you must use sublimating ink and replace the regular paper with sublimating paper and print. Then set the heat press to the temperature that is necessary and allow it to reach that heat. Next adjust the pressure to what is needed. Then open the press and and lay your garment over the press and the the design on the sublimated paper face down over the garment. Then clamp the press down and allow it to heat for the amount of time selected, after time has elapsed open the clamp, peel of paper and allow garment to cool for several hours.…
