Many people have high hopes that 3D printing will bring about huge changes in American society. Some Americans even boast that 3D Printing will make America self-sufficient and rid of our reliance to foreign import. However, while 3D printing technology has a high potential in improving American society, it may be an overstatement for people to say that 3D printing will revolutionize all of America. Like other types of technology, 3D printing may have flaws in its uses and can develop serious consequences to America in the future. While 3D printing shows great promise in the eyes of many Americans, the question remains, are Americans ready to use 3D printing technology? I believe, however that (___).…

A 3D printer is also now believed to be able to solve some of the world’s homelessness. A Chinese company made ten homes in one day with a 3D printer. This printer that the company used was approximately 10 meters wide by 6.6 meters tall. The homes were also sprayed with concrete to build the walls layer by layer. The ability to do this may cause at least a small drop in homelessness but such fast production would also allows for housing to be far more affordable if construction is done this fast.…

A 3D printer, “create(s) 3D items using specifications sent from modeling software…they can build an object a layer at a time from super-heated plastic or polycarbonate” . The first time I ever encountered 3D printing was this past summer, July 2013 to be specific. One of my colleagues had just finished his first year at York College and came home for the summer with new toys. Viktor was an engineering major who also had a fascination and obsessive hobby with cars and extreme sports. While at college, Viktor had taken a computing class in which he had to use a software that could translate 2D designs into 3D and then print them out.…

In Brave New World the conveyor belt allowed for the mass production of babies, “... though you couldn’t see it, was a conveyor travelling at the rate of thirty-three and a third centimeters an hour.” (7, Huxley) this process of mass producing babies was very long but because it has been going on for many years so it was successful. In today’s society inventors are always trying to create faster and easier ways to do things. An example of this search for efficiency is 3D printing. This new age of technology allows for three dimensional forms to be built in a lot less time than it would if made by hand. These printers are really great for architecture firms because they are fast and save them tons of money because they require little labor and use materials gingerly to avoid…

One of these industries is architecture, construction, and engineering. Architects are using 3D printing to save time when putting together their scale models. In the future there will be no limitations to their designs; the reason for this being that construction companies are now experimenting with 3D printing to build parts of buildings. They have started to print using concrete and have been able to print up some wild angles and designs. These were difficult to pull off before because it was hard to make the form to pour the concrete. In the future architects and project managers will be able to work together and print sections of a building in one location, then move and assemble on sight. Just like architects, engineers are using 3D printing to print up scale models of their designs. With the advances in this technology they are able to print these items with moving and working parts.…

The Scientific Process is commonly represented as a linear process, but is better represented by a web or cyclic process because there is no distinct beginning or end. The cyclic process shows that there is no pattern to the process of science, and that one discovery can lead to a whole new process. Scientists can’t precisely predict exactly where their research might take them. The linear process shown in textbooks does not accurately portray the Scientific Method. It only shows one distinct path starting with purpose and ending with conclusion, and does not represent the complexity of a scientific experiment like DNA research. The Scientific Process is always looping back to steps as scientist collaborate, develop new questions and use…

Every metal 3D printer has an unreported cost or a reported cost of over $100,000 according to the Senvol database. Undoubtedly, this is too expensive for the majority of the world. Thus, I plan to use my college (hopefully Harvard) education to revolutionize 3D printing for efficient and affordable use in every household. My plan will allow people to create personalized homemade objects they need at prices they can afford. All individuals will then have the ability to make what they need, how they need it, when they need it.…
