Science and technology is the best thing society could ever ask for. Since the industrial revolution in the 18th century science has been in progress. Some sectors that have been boosted by science and technology are energy, physical sciences, information and communication. The society has greatly gained with the invention of technology.
Infrastructure in the society has grown with the help of science and technology. Modes of transport like electronic railway lines were realized and these actually benefited the society by offering them a better means of transport. In the past, almost everything was analog but thanks to the science and technology we are now being digitalized by the day. The invention of the telephone and radio services has broadened human communication.
Without society then there would be no science and technology and that is why the invention of certain tools and equipment have helped achieve big things. Society can not do without the industries we have today. The

The microwave oven was invented in 1946 by an engineer Percy Spencer but the invention itself was accidental involving chance, coincidence and imagination.
Percy Spenser who was working in the Raytheon Corporation on a project related to radars happened to stand near a magnetron, a device that emits microwave radiations, with a bar of chocolate in his pocket and noticed after some time that it had melted.
Further experiments with popcorn and eggs confirmed his suspicions that the microwave radiations emitted by the magnetron were somehow able to raise the temperature of the food placed near it and hence as a result could be used effectively for cooking purposes.
After initial experiments a microwave was built at Raytheon, but it was at first used only for defrosting purposes and also was quite large in size. Later in 1967 Amana, a division of Raytheon introduced the domestic microwave oven in the market which slowly but surely became popular as its price decreased mainly due to its unmatched speed of cooking.
This was the first prototype of the modern day microwave oven eventually becoming one of the most common of all kitchen appliances and changing food habits on a revolutionary level. Anonymous

The Benefits of Science and Technology
Summary: Despite controvery over science and technology, the advantages they society has received from advancements is immeasureable. Examples include the growth in computer usages and improvements in treatements for HIV-AIDS.
Science and technology are probably the most debated topics in society. Scientific and technological developments have been debated as to whether they affect people's life styles and cause hassle. On the contrary, science and technology has improved our way of life for the better of mankind. Medical advancements, computers and simple inventions such as the light bulb are all examples of how science and technology is beneficial. In each of these cases, there are no undesirable changes to people's life styles. If it were not for many, if not all, of these changes in our history, we as an economy and nation would have fallen apart. Looking into the past, we can see all of the beneficial advancements we have made and how far we have come. Scientific and technological developments such as medical research to find a cure for AIDS, modern health care and computers are beneficial in the role of improving people's lives and do not come at the cost of undesirable changes to them.
Today with new technology, medical research is being done everyday to help find cures or vaccines for devastating diseases such as Cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer's and Leukemia. Being diagnosed with one of these diseases is hard, but growing up with them is even harder. "AIDS was first identified in the USA in 1981. The epidemic has now spread to every part of the USA and to all sectors of society" (Noble). Growing up, I had two siblings who were diagnosed with AIDS. My older sister Katie was unfortunately taken by the disease at the age of 5. At the time there was not any technology or medicine strong enough to save her. My youngest brother though was very fortunate. After being diagnosed with AIDS in late 1993, there was enough technology to help slow the process of the disease. Going into the 21st century he is now like any other 13 year old boy with the exception just that he takes a lot of medicine that helps keep him alive. AIDS was not caused by science or technology, but we are using science and technology to fight it. Due to the benefits of science and technology concerning AIDS, my brothers' life was saved.
After the invention of the computer in 1936, computers are commonly used nearly everyday for numerous reasons. At first, when the computer was first introduced, people were cautious as it was new. Slowly over the years, people started to accept it and it has had remarkable outcomes for the user. Computers were originally designed for the use of financial things and to keep files in order in a folder on the computer rather than in file cabinets. Gradually over time society has accepted this remarkable invention and its many uses; writing reports, researching, accounting, numerous web pages, email, and last but not least entertainment reasons.
Through the years, people have started to live longer and their health is remarkable. Modern health care takes credit for this type of technology. Mixing medical research with technology has created great results for the life expectancy of people. People in society want to live longer and look good and they can benefit from this by following the instructions of their doctors, counselors, etc. to live a better life style.
In the end, one can conclude that science and technology do not make undesirable changes to life styles but merely upgrading life and thing related to it. Science and technology will only continue to benefit society because there will always be new problems popping up over time that will need something bigger, better or a new cure for.

He was born on August 29, 1920, in Dallas, Texas. His mother Sarah was a homemaker while his father Walter was a carpenter, who later became a minister. He didn’t have any siblings. Otis attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas where he was a valedictorian. He graduated in 1938 and then went on to Fisk University on a scholarship. Boykin only went to the university for three years and he graduated in 1941. Within the same year, he worked as a lab assistant with the Majestic Radio and TV Corporation in Chicago, Illinois. He served as a supervisor there. Eventually he took a position with the P.J. Nilsen Research Laboratories while trying to start his own business, Boykin-Fruth Incorporated. While trying to start up his own business, he decided to continue his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. He had to drop out in 1947 because he couldn’t afford tuition. Boykin had an interest in working with resistors and he began researching and inventing on his own. He received a patent for a wire precision resistor on June 16, 1959. The resistor would later be used in radios and televisions. In 1961, he created a cheaper device that could withstand extreme changes in temperature and pressure. This device was used by the United States military for guided missiles and IBM for computers. He moved to Paris in 1964, where he created electronic innovations for a new market of customers. His most famous invention was a control unit for the pacemaker. It wasn’t easy for Boykin to achieve all of these accomplishments. The problems he faced was not having enough money to stay in college, his business he owned failing and growing up in a segregated time. Henri Becquerel discovered that uranium salts released rays that resembled X-rays in their penetrating power.
