Science 150 Essay
Sci. 150,
November 30, 2012
Sci. 150 From a young age it became clear to me that a career in healthcare was the right choice for me. Growing up with a mother who worked both in nurse administration and in healthcare reform, and who’s many friends were all involved in health care, I was emerged in healthcare and the many different careers that someone can chose to pursue. Being given the opportunity to see so many healthcare professionals and see what goes into their day to day lives was something I took for granted prior to taking this class and seeing what it takes to get into their chosen fields and how much work is done prior to being considered a professional in that field. This class has shown me all the preparation and intelligence it takes to go into many of the healthcare fields I have considered going into. At first I was drawn to nursing as it was what my mother had done for a living for many years and I had seen much of what she did first hand with my many injuries in sports and being an adventurous child. As I went into high school and was able to see what it truly takes to be a nurse, with all of the bedside manner and to say it simply “blood and guts,” I began to rethink my decision to go into nursing. While it takes less schooling to become a nurse, it is an extremely rigorous course load and an arduous task for someone who is not fully committed to that field of work. I experienced the same kind of trials while looking at other health professions such as becoming a doctor, a veterinarian, or a dietician before finally coming to the realization that none of these were the career path for me.
After incurring many different injuries from being heavily involved in soccer throughout my life, and going through many different types of treatments with several different types of health professionals, physical therapy stuck out as the definite career for me. Not only did my physical therapists help me far more than anyone else I sought treatment

Nursing is a career not just a job, nursing is treating people as a disease, but as a unique individual who has his/her own values, beliefs, needs, and also treat the family with respect, compassion, patience, and show that we care. I chose nursing because I have always liked helping people. Ever since I was a little girl I liked helping and I would tell my dad that if he was ever sick I would take care of him so he could get better. At first I wanted to be a doctor, a pediatrician to be exact, but I chose nursing because, nurses have more contact with patients and nursing school is shorter than medical school. I know I made the right choice because as I have been doing clinicals, I have been falling more and more in love with what nurses do, but throughout the process I have also seen what kind of nurse I do not want to be. During clinicals there was an agency nurse a patient did…

There have been many occasions in my life that I have spent time in hospitals, nursing homes and by the side of a sick relative. When my grandfather was dying of cancer, he spent as much time as he could at home with his family by his side and when the time came, he was transferred to hospital, I was 14 at the time, still very young I knew it was not about how I was feeling, this pain was his and my grandmothers. I helped look after him for the two years he was diagnosed and it was during that time, I knew where my heart was and that was nursing. With my own experience of being in and out of hospital with two complicated pregnancies, I was in awe of the nurses and midwives who did everything they could to make me feel secure and safe, I was inspired and made an already certain career choice, even more evident.…

During the investigation, ruler and camera were used to collect data and pictures. Also, three tables, a food chain, and a food web were drawn to clearly illustrate the findings. In the third part, the classifications of the five species found in the quadrat area were listed in tables, and the abiotic variables, such as air, water, and soil, were analysed with their relationships to the living environment of the organisms. It was particularly noticeable that some rubbish and air pollution manifested the human activity which would stifle the growth of animals and plants.
