Since many living organism requires oxygen to survive, it is a necessary component of water systems such as streams, lakes and rivers in order to support aquatic life. The dissolved oxygen is measured in units of parts per million (ppm). Examine the data in Table 4 showing the amount of dissolved oxygen present and the number of fish observed in the body of water the sample was taken from; finally, answer the questions below.
1. What patterns do you observe based on the information in Table 4?
1. Develop a hypothesis relating to the amount of dissolved oxygen measured in the water sample and the number of fish observed in the body of water?
1. What would your experimental approach be to test this hypothesis?
1. What would be the independent and dependent variables?
1. What would be your control?
1. What type of graph would be appropriate for this data set? Why?
1. Graph the data from Table 4: Water Quality vs. Fish Population (found at the beginning of this exercise). Describe what your graph looks like (you do not have to submit a picture of the actual graph!!).
1. Interpret the data from the graph made in Question 7.
Lab 1 – Exercise 2: Percentage Error
In the questions below, determine the percentage error. Show your work on all problems.
1. A science teacher tells her class that their final project requires the students to measure a specific variable and determine the velocity of a car with no more than 2.50% error. Jennifer and Johnny work hard and decide the velocity of the car is 34.87 m/s. The teacher informs them that the actual

Lab two experiments are dealing with the water quality and contamination. The water quality of water refers to the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water. Experiment one refers to the effects of groundwater contamination. There were a total of 8 beakers that were separated in to two groups. Group one had beakers one through four and the second was five through eight. 1-4: If chemicals are added to the tab water, then the consistency, color, and smell will change. 5-8: If the potty soil and cheese cloth are used as a filter, then the water level decrease and stay clean. The first was regular tap water with no color or smell. In beakers two through four there was chemicals added to change the water quality. The chemicals that were added were 10ml of oil, vinegar, and soap, which then change the color, consistency, and smell of the water. In beakers five through eight the contents of one through four were filtered using cheese cloth and 240ml of soil.…

Measure the slope of the resulting line, give an algebraic representation of the line, and explain what the slope means. Answer: Find the slope of the line (call it m). Let Y = enrollment in econ courses; Let X = total enrollments. The slope is the rise over run, or, in this case, 1/4. Find the equation of the line in slope-intercept form: take any point (we’ll take (3200, 350) and use the formula Y = mX + b; and you found the slope (1/4) in the previous part of the problem. Therefore, 350=(1/4)*3200 + b, which implies b = -450. So the equation for the line is y = (1/4)*X - 450. The slope (1/4) means that enrollment in economics courses increase by 1 person every time total enrollment increases by 4 people. 2) Graph the following two equations on the same graph, X = 440 - 4Y and X = 40 + 4Y. Solve these two equations for X and Y. Do the graphing. The solution, solving the two equations for the two unknowns, are X=240 and Y=50. 3) Sam believe that the number of job offers he will get depends on the number of courses in which his grade is B+ or better. He concludes from observation that the following figures are typical: Number of grades of B+ or better Number of job offers 0 1 1 3 2 4 3 5 4 6…
