School Year Round School Research Paper
Most students enjoy summer vacation, but some educators feel like the summer breaks are too long and students do not retain information as easily when they return in the fall. I believe that we should not have year round school because students and teachers have important responsibilities, personal time, and school and work obligations.

Teachers and students have multiple responsibilities during the summer break along with the school year . Some students are support systems for their families . They occasionally watch their siblings or work to help pay bills. Students that participate in sports and organizations also have responsibilities . Showing up to pratice on time , attending events and community service is

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

First, if you get lots of breaks during the year, Why not do year-round school? It also helps you because with summer when you get back to school after summer you are still in the summer mood so your not getting the things done that you usually would and that leads to bad grades on testes and quizzes witch ultimately leads to having bad grades on your report card and what people are trying to do is to have that not happen to you by having year-round school.…

When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I've researched are the Cayman Islands. I've only seen pictures and heard stories but I've already decided that's where I am getting married. I still however, don't know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand…

If school was all year round students will learn more, it will help students stay focused. It will also help teachers and stuff with more jobs security. That will give the parents more time together to plan trips and vacations. It will also leave a lot of stress off their parents because they will know that they are at school and not in the streets doing whatever. I feel there will be less breaking in housing, killing and robberies.…

One of the major points for year round schooling is that students would learn more because they would be in the classroom more often. This however, has been proven to be false, as a 2007 Ohio State University study stated that students in year-round schools do not learn more than their peers in traditional nine-month schools (Long). Schools with a year-round system often use it in an attempt to eliminate the lose of knowledge that can occur over the summer months, but this can also happen to students in year-round schools, as some have breaks that last over a month. This can be more than enough time for students to forget what they have learned. While the year-round schooling is often incorporated to help accommodate more students in schools that struggle with overcrowding, the change ends up making both teachers and parents struggle more than they would in a normal schedule. Year-round schooling would mean that the teachers would have to constantly be at work teaching a class of students, all year round, with little to no breaks. Parents would also have to be running their children around a lot more, especially during the summer…

It’s been a lot of talk about school being year around. I for one think school is a great place to be, because without it we wouldn’t be able to do anything without an education. Children in this day and time need education to make it in the work force. Many people say school should be year round; because it will cut the cost and others think that school shouldn’t it will be more scheduling conflict. The children would get tired of going and not having holidays, summers, and any other kind of break.…

The subject I chose to talk about was, “Should school be year round?” The debate for year round school and a traditional school year has been the main subject of the school committee meetings for many years. Even though some people from other countries like Japan go to school year-round because of their religion. It has always been a debate across the nation on this subject; whether school should be year round or not. My opinion is that school shouldn’t be year round.…

How would you feel if you were having a fun time with your family on a nice day in the middle of August, but then you realize you have to go to school tomorrow. Also imagine sitting in a class in the middle of summer baking like a batch of potatoes. If you went to a year round school that could be you. Year round schools would be a great idea if you didn’t know anything about them. I am against year round schools because of the scheduling and the extra cost.…

Many schools in the United States are beginning to change their school calendar so their students attend class all year round. The changes still allow the students time off in the summer, but they do not have the three months of break most students in America receive traditionally. Instead, they get a break of a couple weeks in the summer, and the remainder of the time is divided up and put into other breaks throughout the year. All schools in America should switch to a year-round calendar to accommodate the different and higher level of learning needed to be successful in our changing world and society. The traditional school system was designed many years ago when our country was an agricultural nation. Therefore, the school calendar was developed having a long break in the summer so students could assist their family with cultivating crops and other aspects of farm life. The traditional school calendar was not a calendar for higher learning, and should be extended to meet the needs of modern day students. There are many explanations as to why the traditional school calendar should be changed.…

All around the world kids are jumping with joy, 2 months of summer vacation away from school. While for a selected few million students it is a normal day at school, like it always is… all year. Why is it that students stay year-round? It all depends on your will to succeed. 10-month school causes kids to lose knowledge during the summer, so we need 12-month school to fix that problem. 12-month school is a smarter and more beneficial way then 10-month school.…

Can you imagine the amount of knowledge that is driven away by students throughout summer break? Lately, the Union City Board of Education has been considering that it may be necessary to switch from the traditional school year to having year round school in order to properly educate the students in this area. In my personal opinion, I most likely agree with the Union City Board of Education do to the following reasons. First of all, more time would be spent on teaching new material in opposed to reviewing old material because of summer loss. In addition, with a 15-day break after 45 days of instruction students are able to recover and refresh. Third of all, it eliminates the need for summer enrichment programs families may not be able to afford. Clearly, these reasons should be carefully considered.…

When you were in school have you ever came back from vacation and forgot what you have learned? Most kids when they come back from summer vacation they forgot most of the material they had just learned. Or during school students complain “I want more time off”. No one gets excited about school but if kids were used to getting no summer break then they wouldn’t have the need to want more time off. The traditional three-summer vacation should not be maintained because over summer students forget what they learned, the holiday breaks will be longer, and the students will be able to learn more.…

    12 month school year

I feel that a 12 month school year is not good for the students. For instance, if students had to do school work all year they will not work as well as they would in a normal school year. They also would not get the break they needed to get away from school and would be tired all the time and not want to do anything. They also would never want to go to school being there all year. Plus without a summer break students would never want to do anything. I assume there are a few students who would rather go this route, but most would hate it. I do believe we should tailor the school curriculum towards what the majority of students want.…

Remember the feeling of knowing that today is the last day of school? The last day before summer kicks in! Well, summer vacation might be over… forever! Year-round school, also known as YRS, is a thought being considered by many schools in the USA and Canada. But is it something that will actually enhance and expand students’ academic growth? According to many people, school and summer vacations should remain as is, “Having year round school would be very stressful to kids” (Anonymous, Debate.org). There are several reasons why summer vacations should persist. Summer breaks are the only time of the year when students can stop being students and forget about school! It is the time when both, teachers and students can go on a family vacation without the stress of catching up when they get back! Lastly, summer vacations are a huge opportunity for students to get a job and earn their volunteer hours without distressing about an assignment to do later on in the day!…
