Advantage of School Uniforms
A disadvantage disguised as an advantage, can be found in every debate, even in school uniforms. Forcing students to wear uniforms may look like a good thing because it is said to promote academic performance, lower peer pressure and raise educational priorities, but it is not worth it. Uniforms will only change make rebels, and the prices for uniforms are expensive for some families, while inexpensive for others. Not all uniforms will fit every body type and the weather and season may highly influence the want to wear a uniform.
Students will rebel if a good chance arises and school uniforms are one of the best chances there are, especially if the colors don’t match their preferred choice. Certain accessories can make a uniform more unacceptable than everyday clothing. Uniforms can be itchy, tight or ridged which is quite uncomfortable, and the child does not feel right in “something that is forced upon them” (K12 Directory). In this case, rebels will refuse to wear the uniforms or if made, will inappropriately accessorize. Instead of wearing uniforms, some students will chose to say no and will not be “interested in learning when they are not comfortable in their own second skin” (Edwin Choi). The “second skin” should be a color would make and keep the student comfortable. Also wearing the same thing every day would be pure torture. Most would say that “an attractive uniform or dress code” (Summers) helps academic performance and school spirit. The only problem is that one thing that is pretty to one person is not as eye-catching to someone else. Even if it so happens that the uniforms are beautiful, the sizes will change throughout the year and the clothing will become more costly.
Depending on the size of the family the cost of uniforms can become overly expensive. An average cost for “school uniforms range from $110 to $140” (Summers). This cost will not be too expensive for a family with one or two children, but for a family with three and more children

One of the reasons that school uniforms should not be allowed in schools because they are not cost effective. One reason why they are not cost effective is because some families cannot afford multiple uniforms, plus the clothes that students wear outside of school (Pakhare 1). Unlike the students who can afford three, four, or five uniforms, the poorer students’ one uniform will look worn out and used by mid-semester compared to everyone else (Stainburn 1). It will be easier to pick out the kids who cannot afford much. The social boundaries that uniforms were trying to get rid of will still occur with or without them (Cruz 47). The second reason behind why school…

A school uniform is a specific design for clothing designated to be worn while attending academic classes at a school. The school context comprises grades one through twelve of public and private schools in the United States. Different schools and different grades within schools may have different uniforms, as determined by parents and school administration. In today’s society all public schools should require student uniform. These generations of school kids are more worried about how your hair looks, what name brand clothes you have on, and also what kind of shoes are on your feet. These kids are worried about all the wrong things. Instead of worrying about their peer’s attire they should be into their books. Worrying about all the wrong things can be distracting. When ones focus is on something other than what’s important can cause sidetracking. "We are under no illusions that it's a silver bullet that is going to make kids smarter," school board President Pedro A. Ramos said last week. "We do think it will improve school climate. It removes a lot of anxiety and stress from lives of our students and parents," (Johnston). To understand why this is an issue, let us look at the problem, why the problem is significant, whom the problem affects, why others’ attempts have failed, and how I propose to solve the problem. This is an everlasting debate that whether school uniforms should be worn or casual clothing is as good. And like most of the popular debate in the world it has no concrete answer, it totally depends on a person’s beliefs actually. For some it is a benefit for others a disadvantage. I believe public schools should require students to wear uniforms. First wearing school uniforms promotes good discipline. Second it reduces distractions. Thirdly it is a far less expensive to buy school uniforms than many other clothes.…

School uniforms are widely used in public schools. Despite disagreements among parents, students, and the school districts, school officials cite many reasons for students to wear school uniforms. Those reasons usually include the following: the uniforms are cheaper for parents, students wearing the same clothes decreases school fights, and students can receive a better education in the secure environment uniforms creates. Some students and parents disagree because wearing uniforms is not pleasing to them and does not alleviate traditional school problems. It makes students depressed because they cannot express themselves, they are forced to look like others, and it takes the fun out of school. What really happens when students are all dressed the same? Students’ creativity is hindered, and they are unable to show their individuality. Also, mandatory school uniforms cause more problems and trouble in the schools. Not all families agree with this, so they don’t force their kids to wear the uniforms. This causes problems because other classmates assume those kids cannot afford the uniforms. So the kids without uniforms are being teased and called poor. Also, other students may find it unfair that some kids do not have to wear the uniforms and others do. The teachers will spend the first fifteen minutes of class trying to figure out who had waivers for not wearing the uniforms and who is just breaking the rules. The rule breakers would overcrowd the principal’s office, giving the principal less time to work on more important matters. Many schools who would enforce the uniforms would have found that their problems only increased, as uniforms infractions built up and uniforms became a stigma in marking poor students.…
