Among those indebted to his music are: Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Eric Clapton (Cream) and The Rolling Stones. At the root of Robert Johnson 's music is a relentless ability to express the deepest rawest emotion with unmistakable honesty, clarity and soul. Allan G. Johnson

Allan G. Johnson wrote a book called, ‘Privilege, Power, and Difference’. He has written a very accessible introduction to the concept of privilege: the notion that certain members of society benefit from institutionalized assumptions and beliefs about what is normal. Conversely, attention is also given to various groups that are harmed by these same institutionalized assumptions. People of color, women, homosexuals, and those with disabilities are all included in his discussion. Furthermore, important criticisms included in this book are not only a wonderful introduction to the concept of privilege, but it also delves into how and why various systems of privilege are perpetuated in our society. Johnson is adept at shifting the focus from an individual level, where feelings of defensiveness and guilt arise, to the societal level, where the systems of privilege truly operate and are maintained. By looking at social systems and the way that individuals participate in them, he challenges his readers to act responsibly as agents of change, while suggesting that individual guilt or innocence is a debatable point when it comes to dealing with these systems of privilege. This is an important skill that Johnson wields, because American society traditionally celebrates the myth of the rugged individual. Johnson acknowledges and discusses this tendency of the U.S. citizen to think individualistically, and then redirects his discussion to the societal level, effectively re-framing the concept of individual guilt or innocence as a discussion of social systems and institutionalized biases. Hence, because of the various arguments this book poses and the level of thinking it ignites, I highly recommend reading this book.…

    Johnson and Johnson Credo

    • 1012 Words

The impact of the Credo of Johnson & Johnson on the organization can be seen on several levels. To begin with, the authors of this case, Professor Aguilar and Arvind Bhambri, quote a senior executive as saying, “The prime motivator in J&J is the opportunity to grow with more responsibility. It runs through the whole organization.” This brief statement illuminates what is at the center of the Credo when speaking about the responsibility of J&J to its employees – provide a fertile ground for employees to work, one that is managed well with room to grow, open to change and challenge, ripe with opportunities to innovate and take risk while being treated fairly and compensated well. These ingredients encourage a like-minded move towards advancement that inevitably come with employee / employer loyalty, respect and a common goal in line with those of Robert Johnson and his son, the General. In short, the Credo, when taken to heart, propagates a unified culture. This is supported by the fact that J&J could when needed, look outside of one of its 250[1] companies for a qualified candidate to fill a position in that organization from within one of the other 249 companies, confident that the prospective candidate would be able to move into that position with ease.…
