Sometimes people improvise lies to escape from a specific situation, but they don't understand the consequences until it is too late. This issue can be found in the book Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. In the book, Bitterblue, the young queen of Monsea is confined to her castle by her advisers. Bitterblue sneaks into the city at night and meets two thieves named Saf and Teddy, and lies about her identity in order to figure out why they are stealing from her. Despite all inquisitive situations and clashes that the characters endured throughout the story, I would change the settings if I were to re-write this book.…

I worked in a theater one summer, and personally, designing spaces and temporary installations doesn’t interest me that much. I am much more interested in designing branding systems, products, and packaging. Even though I did not relate much to White’s lecture, there was some relevant advice about design and life in…

People often toss around the notion that “art is subjective.” We have heard the phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” one too many times growing up. We all understand that everyone holds different perspectives, but maybe we have become numb to the actual meanings behind these words. We are the ones who succumb to the aesthetics of art without truly understanding the contexts in which it arises from. We seem to think we know all about a culture once we possess or even create a certain “stereotypical” work of art. We get so caught up in the beauty of it all, but we need to question what exactly aesthetic values do in creating a false sense of reality. Writers like Teju Cole understand this urge and give us a wake-up call that we are living…

The above ratios can be used to measure the efficiency of a firm’s investment policy. Burberry has a higher land, buildings and equipment to sales ratio as well as a higher depreciation to sales ratio. The higher the ratio of land, buildings and equipment to sales, the smaller the investment required to generate sales revenue and therefore the higher the profitability of the firm. Moreover, the ratio of depreciation to sales provides a measure of the level of non-cash expenditure in relation to total sales. Consequently, Burberry appears to be relatively more efficient in managing its assets in relation to the revenue generated than H&M.…
