Gay Marriage
Gay marriage should be legal in every state and not half of the United States because everyone should be entitled to their own right to be happy. Our unalienable rights are life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, which means to be happy. The unalienable rights are rights are rights that we are given and cannot be taken away from us. It is up to the individual to give up their rights. It was a never ending fight for slavery to be over, blacks and whites to finally get along, women’s rights and now for gay marriage to be legal in all 50 states.

Gays do not choose to be gay; they don’t wake up one morning and decide that they just want to love the same sex. I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that no one would just choose a life of bullying, humiliation and being taunted forever. No human would want to be bullied to the point of where they want to commit suicide. Homosexuals cannot help being attracted to the same sex it is in their nature. Sometimes it can even be hereditary. “Jane Doe left her marriage of 25 years and her two children because of an intense love relationship that developed between her and another woman” (Robert M. Baird & Stuart E. Rosenbaum). Becoming gay can happen over a period of time. People often ask why any homosexual individual would want to marry. The United States is supposedly a “free country” but honestly it is not free or equal because we are limited to what we can do to a certain extent. We have a never ending war for equality. We have been fighting for blacks and whites to get along, for women to have certain rights, for slaves to be free and even though racism still exists in some states all of those rights that we were fighting to have we pretty much have now and now we are fighting for gay marriage to be legal. As of now 35 states has already been legalized; 24 by court, 8 by state legislature and 3 by popular vote.     All men were created equal. It is for this reason that gays have the same rights when it comes to housing, jobs, protection under the law, and so on, despite their difference in sexual preference. Well then, if gays have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, why can they not be legally married in the U.S? That is the question that half our country should be asking themselves, since 50% of U.S citizens oppose gay marriage. However, extraordinarily, 75% of the people in the U.S are all for gay rights (Bidstrup). But, when it comes to marriage, for one reason or another, the line is drawn. Gay relationships are the same as straight relationships in all aspects except for the fact that they involve two members of the same gender. Both participants in gay relationships are loyal to their significant others, have strong family lives, are committed to their communities, and follow the law. Gay marriage should be legal in the U.S due to the simple, but often ignored, fact that homosexuality is more about being in love and showing affection towards one another as it is about sex. As is the case with heterosexuals, sex is just a way of gays to show their significant others that they do indeed love each other. Despite many people's opinions that gay sex is disgusting, homosexuality is part of a gay's identity. It's impossible to ask a homosexual to change his sexual preference just because some ignorant people disagree with the way they live out their life.     First of all, gay marriage should be legalized because it is unfair and unconstitutional to deny citizens this human right. President Obama said, “Every single American-gay, straight, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender-deserve to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society.     It's not a choice to be gay. You don't chose who you love, you just do. Using the Bible as a reason to be against same sex marriage is complete non-sense. God created everyone equal. Even Pope Francis called for the integration of gays into society, remarking that even as leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, he has no right to “judge” gay people.
