Santa Fe Concert Report
So the concert I went to go see was right here on the Santa Fe campus in the Fine Arts Hall Theatre or building FA. So the performers for this concerts were all students from Santa Fe and there were two different music classes to perform there, it was the Santa Fe wind ensemble, and the Santa Fe hand-drummers were the performers at this concert. So the concert was broken in to two sections the first consisting of a group of hand-drummers playing all different types of drums and styles from African to Mediterranean, then the second half was the wind ensemble. The wind ensemble had lots of instruments there was marimbas, percussion, triangle, tubas, trombones, euphonium, French horns, trumpets, clarinets, bass clarinets, flutes, piccolo, oboe,

Out of the hand-drummers performance all of the pieces sounded the similar to me but with slight difference with the rhythm, because most of the piece played by them were only about two minutes long at the longest, while some of the shorter ones only lasted about forty five seconds. All of the pieces played at the same volume and most of the pieces were polyphonic and had repetition, I know all of this sounds really negative but I have never heard a professional drummer ensemble so I did not what is good and bad about their performance. The Wind ensemble on the other hand was all other the place the music they played, The Nocturne, Southern hymn, and part of the tribute piece to Gershwin were all more Andante or Adagio, while Burn, Military escort march, El Camino real, and Drums of Saamis were all upbeat and Allegro or Presto. All of the pieces played were polyphonic with dynamic changes throughout the piece, variation and repetition throughout the pieces, they had regular rhythm, and always were in consonance with the other notes that were being played at the same
