Santa Barbara is not only well-known for the restful, peaceful scenes like a small town, but also famous for the purified atmosphere of the European city. Besides, the city is dressed up with the sophisticated art landscape, flavor wine, and the most outstanding thing is the Spanish revival architecture, Santa Barbara County Courthouse is a part of this unique construction. The Courthouse is so beautiful and imposing that Charles Willard Moore, a famous architecture called it “The grandest Spanish Colonial Revival structure ever built”. About the Courthouse
Located in downtown Santa Barbara, California, the Santa Barbara County Courthouse was set in the charming town with low buildings and surrounded by the red-tile-roofed, white-washed houses on the hillsides. This situation combined with the lush lawns and the Sunken tropical gardens makes the courthouse look like a great palace rather than a functional public building. …show more content…
This work is a proof reflecting the Santa Barbara inhabitants’ desire to recreate the area as a poetic Spanish city when the vernacular architecture of Andalusian Spain is incorporated into each part of the external structure. Even its creator, the architect William Mooser declared that the Courthouse has a magnificent Spanish style more than any hotel-de-ville in Spain. Even to this day, some citizens have continued to emphasize on something called “the Santa Barbara style” in the downtown region through the establishment of the law enforcement agencies.
