Samsung’s Background

Byung-Chull Lee founded Samsung in March 1, 1938. Byung-Chull Lee started the company in Taegu, Korea with only 30,000 won, and it was originally focused on trade export, selling dried fish, vegetables, and fruit to the cities of Manchuria and Beijing. A few years later after Samsung was founded, the company acquired its own flour mills and confectionary machines, later on they got their own manufacturing and sales operations, and eventually evolved to become the modern corporation that is known today.

Samsung has become one of the world’s leading electronics companies. Today Samsung is known for specializing in digital appliances and media. Its innovation and top quality products are highly recognized around the globe.

Values and Philosophy

Samsung’s goal is to help people live better lives through its simple philosophy, values, and ethical standards. Samsung is dedicated to innovation, especially when it comes to technology and efficient processes to create new markets. Samsung is known for being one of the most innovative companies for more than 70 years.

Samsung’s web page states that their simple philosophy is: ‘‘to devote our talent and technology to creating superior products and services that contribute to a better global society.’’

Samsung’s core values are the heart of every decision made by the company, these values are:

1. People- Samsung believes that people are what make the company whole, and they give their people opportunities to reach their full potential.
2. Excellence- Samsung take all of their actions driven by their passion for to achieve excellence. This applies to their products and services.
3. Change- Change and innovation is very constant in the market, which is why at Samsung they believe is critical to be innovative in order to survive in the highly competitive market.
4. Integrity- Ethical actions are the foundation of the company, which is why everything is guided by a ‘’moral compass’’ as stated in
