Same Sex Marriage Should Not Be Legalized Same sex marriage, also known as equal marriage or gay marriage, is marriage between two persons of the same biological sex or gender identity. The question of legalization of same sex marriage is an issue in many of our states today and in other countries. At least “17 U.S. states are now permitting gay marriage and some are still pending” (Bloomberg). Many people have their own beliefs and reasonings when it comes to same-sex marriage; however, God made a man and a woman to join hands together and say vows in the right way. God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve; as a result, a man is for woman and a woman is for man. Take a look what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah in 1900 BCE.

History
According to Holly Joan Toensing, the book of Genesis in the Bible translates to, ”Homosexuality = Death” (Toensing 61). Sometimes the executional judgments came as a result of the wicked conduct of people in their daily lives. Sodom and Gomorrah are an example of this. God inspected the cities and determined that the sin of the inhabitants was very heavy; he decided to bring the cities to ruin. “Then Jehovah made it rain sulfur and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah—it came from Jehovah, from the heavens. So he overthrew these cities, yes, the entire district, including all the inhabitants of the cities and the plants of the ground.” (Genesis 19:24, 25) But, why? The apostle Peter mentions indulgence in “loose conduct.” (2 Peter 2:7) As indicated by the use of the Greek term from which that expression is translated, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah indulged in wrongdoing in a manner that displayed brazen disrespect, even contempt, for law and authority.
In addition, Jude 7 says that they ‘committed fornication excessively and went out after flesh for unnatural use,’ and “gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion.” Weston Fields states that “God’s destruction was brought about

In the Bible, we can see murder, annihilation of cities, bludgeoning, burning people alive, cannibalism, decapitation, disemboweling, hanging, genocide, stabbing, stoning, suicide, etc. These are different kinds of violence. The Bible portrays violence with gruesome images and hideous acts of evil (Godawa 34). In the book of Judges, God wrote the script with lies, espionage, intrigue, and grotesque images of murders. It was necessary because the Israelites needed a leader to show them that they were being evil for not seeking God’s help.…

“If a man lies with another male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them” Leviticus 20. Historically, this verse has been interpreted by Christians and Jews alike to be a clear prohibition against homosexual acts. In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, the men of Sodom wish to rape the two angels sent to them. It does not specifically identify homosexuality as the sin for which they are destroyed, but the Jews and Christians have both interpreted it as such. ”The word “Sodom” has now become the basis of the…

In Chapter 8 entitled “Does the Bible Condemn Loving, Committed Homosexual Relationships?” Copan dissects the issue of homosexuality in a delicate fashion. As Christians, it is very easy to place the “gay lifestyle” on the hot seat and think of it as one of the worst sins one can possibly commit. Not diminishing the sinfulness of homosexuality, Copan explains that “Scripture doesn’t highlight homosexual acts as the greatest wrongs but includes them in lists of other sinful practices.” (92) (Such as fornication, idolaters, and adulterers (1Cor. 6:9-10)) “All too often self-proclaimed “Bible-believing Christians” can act with a smug moral superiority toward homosexuals…” (78) Heterosexual people act this way because they cannot understand how something so unnatural can even be a coherent thought for a person. Copan states that as Christians we should be welcoming to everyone from every background and lifestyle. Another point that is made is that Scripture doesn’t speak against homosexual inclinations, only homosexual actions. Everyone lusts. Whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, lust is a sin; the decision to act on that lust is a different story. It is just as bad for a man to lust after a man, as it is for a man to lust after a woman (lust is lust). God says that we have already committed adultery in our minds just by lusting. Although the cause of homosexuality is unknown, people can have homosexual feelings AND still be a Christian as longs they do not act upon their desires. Many homosexuals use the excuse of “That’s the way I was born” in…

It is crucial to remember that The Bible is a religious text and its stories are meant to reflect its intended scruples. Nevertheless, The Bible has grown up and out of itself. Its stories are no longer bound by its covers and are instead shared actively by mouth and other adaptations and allusions. These diversions from the text do two things: they spread the word and more often than not, caricaturize it. Lessons of good and evil are exaggerated, contorted in order to convey morality as effectively and…

The Bible records in the book of Genesis a pentapolis along the plains of the Jordan Valley of which two of the cities within the pentapolis are infamous for their destruction. The cities are known as Sodom and Gomorrah and their names known amongst Christians and non-Believers primarily due to their destruction and acts of sodomy. Both of these cities are known for their wickedness and ultimate destruction, but there is also a tremendous amount of controversy over where the cities lay. In this paper I will attempt to identify the archaeological site for Sodom and Gomorrah, the dates in which the patriarchs lived, evidence for the destruction of both cities, and compare the weaknesses and strengths of the evidences which are provided by those who believe the cities were located at either the northern or southern end of the Jordan Valley.…

He (God) overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. This should go as a warning to all those that indulge in this sinful behavior that they are headed for eternal death as the case was with Sodom and Gomorrah.…

Could you imagine if you had met the ideal person you wished to share your entire life with but the law would not allow you to? That is the position that many homosexual Australians have been in since the settlement of this country. Same sex marriage is currently not allowed in Australia but I and a proven 60% of other Australians strongly believe it should be. Gay people pay taxes, serve in the military, participate in the workforce, are our neighbors, friends and family. Logic and decency would suggest that they should have the right to marry, just as any heterosexual couple can. However, there are people who disagree with this belief, take for example the government, namely Australia’s prime minister, Julia Gillard, several religious groups who believe marriage should be kept between a man and a woman and those who simply wish to deny the happiness of two people in love because of their anatomy.…

Although homosexuality was not considered a major offense during the early Roman Empire, homosexual encounters and homosexual behavior came to be viewed as unacceptable as Christianity developed. The Old Testament (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Deuteronomy 22:5) and the New Testament (Romans 1:26) condemned females who wore male attire, males who wore female attires, and males and females that engaged in homosexual behavior or intercourse.…

According to Christian belief, in the beginning, god made Adam a man and then made eve a woman. He gave Adam a woman, not a man, so that the human race can maintain. For thousands of years homosexuality has been a sin or misconduct in many, if not all, religions. We are continually beset with this controversial topic and now have reached an age in where homosexuality is more open and widely received than it has ever been before. Now, gay men and women fight for the right to be married. In Christianity, marriage is a life long commitment under god. It is well known to many Christians that practicing homosexuality is a major sin. How can a union, which is created for man and woman, under god, bond two partners of the same sex if it is stated in god's book that it is morally wrong? Homosexuals should be allowed to make a lifetime commitment to their partners, but it should be called something other than marriage and should not be under god.…

At this point, I must pause to address the common teaching in today’s society regarding the story of Sodom and Gomorrah primarily used to validate the “sin” of homosexuality. In fact, I cannot recall ever being taught from that stance; it was briefly mentioned that men slept with men or same sex relationships. However, as stated above, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah was used to point out the Lord used fire to destroy the city for committing a vast number of sins.…
