Sam Is A Necromancer
Sam is a cashier at a fast food joint called Plumpty’s and a man named Douglas changes his life. Douglas is a very powerful necromancer and doesn’t like other necromancers in his territory and Sam happens to be just that. Sam went to work that day just as he always did and when he walked in he looked at the job board and was stuck with cash register like always. His childhood friend Rammon always got the grill (because Sam set, it on fire a couple times). His friend Brooke was also in charge of drive thru, and the new guy, Frank (who everyone was betting on when he would quit) had every other job. Sam and Brooke went outside on break and played a game of potato hockey. The goals where the dumpster and a nice “classic, shiny” car. …show more content…

So she gives him some pointers on how to use necromancy and he tells her to tell someone where he is and to get them out. The next day Rammon realizes that Sam is missing and asks around and found nothing, then, he realizes that that night he was talking on the phone so he checks his phone and finds a number he didn’t realize. So he calls the number and he tells her that Sam’s missing and she remembers that Ashley had told her where he was. So, she makes another call and, calls him back and tell him an address so he tells Sam’s mom and tells her that she needs to take her binding off Sam or he’s going to die, and then he goes there to the address on his skateboard. Mean wile Douglas has him summon a spirit. When he tries he fail multiple times and Douglas gives him one last chance and he thinks, of what Ashley said and he summons Ashley accidently and one of her coworkers Ed, who was apparently so difficult to summon even for the higher level necromancers so no one even tries and he did it without trying and Douglas his angry. I think that a plot twist that I would make for The Necromancer, is that when Leonie Barrow signed her name on the contract she signed Cabal's name instead of her. Yes, at the time I read this. I really wanted it to happen because I thought it would be super funny to see Cabal's careful plan foiled by this little act. But, in the way that it would change the story would be very strange. Seeing as how Cabal's soul was already one given to Satan it wouldn't change much. He would simply get damnation and that would be that. But, would it really effect Cabal? Well, he's already had his soul away from him for so long, and when he died he wouldn't have it in him, so in all reality it shouldn't do anything to him. And, of course Satan would either…

Sam Wood is the protagonist in the story because the story starts off with him driving around Wells, and he was the one who discovered Mr. Mantoli's body. On page two, it says, "He slipped the car into gear and moved it away from the curb with the professional smoothness of an expert driver." This quote shows how Sam is an expert driver. Another quote on page thirty nine, "Sam reached up and removed his uniform cap ashamed that he had forgotten to do so until now. I'm terribly sorry to have to bring you this news." This quote describes how Sam is a sensitive person internally. In addition, Sam Wood hates to be called Sam and rather be called Mr. Wood. On page 57, it says, "He wanted desperately to offer her his protection, to let her cry on his ample shoulder if she wanted to, to hold her hand in a reassuring grip." Sam also starts to develop a relationship with Virgil because he knows he is helping them solve the murder case, so he decides to offer him food. Sam's conflict internally is about racism. He was extremely racist to blacks at first. For example, he called them "animals" on page five. Also, he arrested the Negro without questioning in the railroad station, assuming that he was the one of murdered Mr. Mantoli on page 15. Later on in the book, he overcomes his conflict and realizes that black people are normal people because he has been working with Virgil (a Negro) during the whole investigation. Moreover, he shook hands with Virgil. Sam's conflict externally is to find the person who killed Mr. Mantoli because he has strong feelings for Duena and wants to help her find the murderer of her father. “Principle, Sam? You may know principle, Sam, but I know war.” (Collier and Collier 21). In the book My Brother Sam is Dead Mr. Meeker is Sam Meeker's father. They disagree on whether war is beneficial or just simply awful. The authors have Sam join the war and his father against the war. Mr. Meeker knows about the terrible things war does to people. First, war turns families against each other. If one is stuck in the middle of sides, like Tim, it can become a nasty place to be. Secondly, families from generations to generations fight and argue against each other. Also, when people get killed for no reason, it becomes shameful for people, and is gruesome. In My Brother Sam Is Dead, although both sides of war are shown, authors James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier ultimately argue that war is futile.…

Death is an obvious and underlining theme in both the stories of god father death and Appointment in Samarra. This does not just mean the act of dying but the character itself. Death is portrayed as an omniscient being, whose prescience is the ultimate fear. In both stories however, Death does not act as controller of everything or even all knowing. In God father death the king and princess are able to cheat death through the doctor’s healing powers, despite Death’s plans. Then in Appointment in Samarra Death is surprised to find the servant escapes to Samarra (the place where he later meets Death). Even if Death does is believed not to hold as much power as a god or the devil he is equally if not more threatening. In both stories the protagonists run away or plead for mercy but both meet the inevitable fate of death. This brings us to the true moral of the story that no one can escape death. Both stories also show Death to have a trickster like personality and the stories seem to be a little darkly comedic. Although the stories share many similarities there also many differences amongst them as well.…
