Sam And Runner Character Analysis
Sam walks home from school , his heart in a ditch. The kids at school are nice, but not when big ol’ Jack the bully is around. He can't help but think about what he had always wanted, a best friend, a companion, a pet dog. When he arrives home, he asks his parents’ for the hundredth time if he could get a dog. His parents like always answers with a no. Again explaining that having a dog requires a lot of responsibility and he could only get one when he gets older. When Sam turns twelve, his parents gives him an opportunity to earn a dog. That day, it was the best day of his life. With a big smile, Sam goes to the puppy shelter with his parents, hoping to find the dog he always wanted. When Sam looks around the store, something catches his attention. There was a cage with a sign on top of it that says a rescued dog for adoption. The dog in the cage had three legs, even though that the dog wasn’t normal, Sam's heart could feel a great connection and sympathy with the dog. He had a choice of various dogs that he could get, but he couldn't keep his eyes off the rescue dog. He finally chooses to adopt the rescue dog. When they walked home, Sam could see the dog looking at him, he called the dog, Runner. Runner has a fear of humans, but Sam and Runner grew closer together and they did everything together. …show more content…
Jack, a bully from school who has always been proud of old dog Jasper, who’s always been popular with the kids at school. Jack suddenly gets jealous when Sam goes to school with his dog and gains every one’s attention. Jack was so angry, that after school, Jack was throwing rocks in the woods, when wolves arrived agitated that someone has invaded their territory. Jasper came and was there to defend Jack. That day, Jack loses his best friend when he saved his life from a fight with wolves. Jack then seeks for revenge and plans to hurt Runner and let Sam know how it feels to lose your best
