Mounds Park Academy is an independent private school that offers education for talented students who are motivated to become a part of a community where both academic, and athletic success is celebrated. The school looks to admit students who have shown that they have the ability to master their school curriculum, and who have an enthusiasm for learning. The school firmly believes in family involvement throughout their student's education as the school provides a challenging curriculum in which each student will need support as they grow both developmentally and emotionally. In addition, the school seeks to include both a multicultural and diverse community, therefore not discriminating against admission of students on any grounds related to religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class status.…

In his speech to the people of the United States of America, president Kennedy uses repetition and offers solutions with a very imperative tone to convey his opinion that steel companies are causing harm by making their prices higher. He continues to argue that in a rising industry, they are the cause of jobs being lost, and that because of them, the country will be further in debt.…

I need all kinds of fruits in my basket! What does that mean? At Damien, this phrase completely defines us. Damien Memorial High School Is filled with a lot of different ethnicities and different backgrounds. Damien to everyone may seem like it’s a bad school or we suck at sports and just another small school, but we’ve got heart and strong support for our school. The question is what makes Damien different from other schools and what unites us. What makes us different is the brotherhood we have here is too strong for anyone to break, and you can try but you will fail because we got everyone’s back at our school and no one can break our bond.…

The tank tops worn by students at Upper Perkiomen High School should not completely eliminated without spoken reasoning. Listed as the seventh rule in the student handbook, it is stated, “Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, muscle shirts, and garments with spaghetti straps are not permitted in school” (52). This rule states that students may not wear any top that does not cover their shoulders. My thought process, and many other students, believe this rule is absurd and has no true meaning. Students have never been clarified on why this rule is in place, although we are expected to follow it. Is it because the administrators think possible bra straps are provocative? Is it just plainly because they think shoulders are distracting? Students…

Considering diversity within the campus is an important factor for college boards across the country, the admission offices are prone to deny applicants of common, white ethnicity if an applicant of the same, or lessened, qualifications, but who obtains a more diverse ethnicity. Although this practice may seem to be in favor with what the Brown v. Board of Education desired to accomplish, it is reasonable to question if the importance of diversity over the best applicants has taken things far beyond the extent of equal opportunity to education. More specifically, the University of California at Davis (a medical program) has a regular admission program and a special admission program. Most students fall under the regular admission program and have to meet certain requirements such as above a 2.5 GPA. However, the special admission program accepts the applicants of the minority group and have been found to be disadvantaged through the education system in the past. Where the unfairness comes up is that the “Special candidates… did not have to meet the 2.5 grade point cutoff and were not ranked against candidates in the general admissions process” (Regents of University). With the standards of the minority applicants straying from the standards of the majority applicants, the inequitability of the college admission process has…
