The definition of sagging pants is pants that are worn below the waist. This style has become popular to this generation. Sagging pants became a style to this generation by rappers. Some of this generation thinks it is cool to wear sagging pants. I beg to differ; I think it shows how immature and a lack of carrying yourself in a proper and appropriate way. What they don’t know is that sagging pants originally came from prison and in prison it showed to other males that you are available to the same sex. It really bothers me when I see some guys and even some girls copy this style. I think there should be a law that bans sagging pants. It is so inappropriate for anybody to walk around the streets with their…

My question has been the same for many ages. I don 't like the fact that so many people sag their pants. To me it looks nasty and showing off your underwear is not cool and I don 't know why people think it would be. I have done this research on more than one occasion and not for a class assignment, but because I wanted to try and understand what they could possibly get out of such unruly attire. There have been quite a few stories going around about the exact beginnings of the habit of sagging one 's pants. One of the answers to Why Do People Sag Their Pants may be traced a few years back, in prison of all places. There are actually two versions of Why Do People Sag Their Pants that may be traced back to men 's prison. One reason is that men 's prison pants are sometimes so loose on them that they tend to fall down, reaching several inches below the waist. As belts are not allowed in prison, for safety reasons, loose and sagging pants became commonplace here. Another story that traces back the roots of Why Do People Sag Their Pants in prison, is somewhat incredible but, some people attest to the authenticity of the tall tale. The story goes, male inmates sag their pants as an invitation for an intimate encounter with their fellow inmates. It was used as a sign that they welcome any intimate advances. While some consider this yarn as preposterous; it has still managed to reach legendary heights that people talk about it now and even see it as a huge probability as to the reason why people sag their pants. We have seen it often enough, mostly in young men, sagging pants that show off almost half of their boxers. Perplexing and troubling it may seem to some; this popular trend has been in mainstream street fashion for a couple of years now. While a few people may never understand the reason behind the question Why Do People Sag Their Pants; it has become a huge part in pop culture that when once it was looked upon as distasteful and…

where in evidence: on the street; in restaurants and theaters; at tourist attractions in the classroom, on the floor of dance clubs; at parties big and small, public and private; possibly even at work; as a run of Cathy Guisewite comic strips suggest. Indeed, this fashion motif is so common as to have become almost unremarkable. Only the truly cloistered have yet to see young women—or pictures of them in fashion articles or clothing advertisements—clad in an abbreviated T-shirt or blouse or other top worn with low-rise1 jeans or pants or shorts or hiphugging skirts that, in tandem, bare the midriff in varying degrees, from a mere slip of skin occasionally revealed in walking or sitting to wider expanses, commonly revealing the navel and occasionally exposing what is called ‘‘butt cleavage.’’ Some find here a canvas for the body arts, most commonly naval rings and tattoos,2 while others adopt a minimalist approach, exhibiting only what nature, tanning, and exercise hath wrought. The evidence of informal observation suggests that this fashion is pitched to, and has been adopted principally by very young women, in their early teens through the early to mid twenties. Some evidence, more seen in advertising than on the street or in the salon, suggests that youth culture once again has been looted by high fashion. While the bare-midriff motif, as did the Grunge Look, has become a fashion option for some older and high-maintenance buyers, it remains the fashion coinage primarily of young women of the working and middle classes—if these designations mean anything any more.3…
