II. I wish to join the Sacred Heart Society because I can build a strong relationship when spending time with the nuns. Listening to Koko Kumar’s story during my sophomore year about Sacred Heart Society made me interested to be apart of this extraordinary experience during my senior year. I personally have not spent a lot of time to have a fully connected relationship with the nuns, therefore participating in the Sacred Heart Society would give me a great opportunity to learn and have fun together.
III. From my freshman year, I experienced a personal and active faith in God whenever I meditated in religion class, volunteered at Ravenswood Childhood Development Center and St. Francis with my classmates, and when I spent time with my peers in Gator Groups and class retreats. I practice a different religion than the majority of the school, which can be difficult at times, but that does not mean that I do not care or respect others like the rest of the Sacred Heart Community; my belief in god may be dissimilar but I, as an individual, am not completely distinct than other Sacred Heart students or staff. In addition, volunteering with communities outside of our area is truly an eye-opening and life-changing experience. My personal experience at Sacred Heart Preparatory that best exemplifies my commitment to a social awareness that impels to action is when -- as stated before -- I volunteer in communities. For instance, volunteering at the Ravenswood Childhood Development Center and organizing clothes at St. Francis make myself focus more about caring others rather than stress about school. In addition, whenever I volunteer at Furry Friends Rescue, a nonprofit organization to rescue homeless and abused dogs and cats in the Bay Area, it challenges me to reach out and help both animals and humans for better understanding of taking care of a
