Sacramento Time Capsule

Dear City of Sacramento:
We are writing to you regarding what we believe should be included in a time capsule displaying what life is and was like in Sacramento. We have compiled a list of ten objects, the price of which does not exceed ten thousand dollars. We believe that each of these items hold a special place in the heart of each Sacramentan, and should thus be included in the time capsule. This is the list we have composed, in order of importance:
1) Sacramento Kings basketball jersey: When one thinks of Sacramento, the first thing that often comes to mind is our very own NBA team, the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are one aspect of this city that are uniquely Sacramentan, and are a sense of pride for the city of Sacramento. The Kings jersey we are planning to include in our time capsule also is a symbol of the long and arduous struggle we went through as a city to keep them from becoming the Seattle Sonics. The features of culture this corresponds to are styles of dress and values.
2) Crocker Art Museum Painting Reproduction (Thomas Hill): The Crocker Art Museum is a major art museum located in Sacramento. We chose to display a reproduction of Thomas Hill’s piece Yosemite. Thomas Hill is known for his depictions of California landscapes, and we believe that his piece Yosemite is a good symbol of California’s love for nature and natural parks. The features of culture this corresponds to are paintings, understanding of the natural world, and concept of beauty.
3) Picture of the Capitol building: More than anything, Sacramento is known for being the capitol of California, therefore, we believe it is only right that a picture of the capitol building be included in our time capsule. It also solidifies the fact that Sacramento is the political epicenter of California. The feature of culture this corresponds to is ideas about leadership.
4) Map of Sacramento (with waterways): Corresponds to understanding of the natural world and housing.
