Sacramento History Museum Analysis
Sacramento History Museum During this on-campus event I went to the Sacramento History Museum. The Sacramento History Museum is the place where I purchased my membership for this class. The Sacramento history Museum is in downtown old Sacramento. In addition, the lens of history Presented by Dr. Cohen will be used to analyze the Sacramento History Museum (Cohen, 2015). In the Sacramento history Museum an observer can see primary and secondary sources. The portion of the history lens that will be used is about the two different kinds of sources (Cohen, 2015). After first entering the Sacramento History Museum, artifacts from the starting of the Sacramento Bee newspaper can be seen. An old printing press and old newspapers that have been laminated are primary source documents. A curator’s comments about the printing press or newspaper would be a secondary source. When using the historical lens I can look at a plaque that says exhibit number two is a woman's hat that was worn during the year 1870 and 1880 (Nix 2015). I can see that the plaque is a secondary source (Cohen, 2015). The reason the plaque is secondary source is because it’s commenting about an artifact. The hat itself is a primary source because it is an artifact. The historical lens allows the viewer to see how a historian would you look at the Museum. In addition to the hat, there are also a number of glass bottles. So these glass bottles how the labels like “olive oil” or no label that can be seen at this time. The bottles are various colors some are blue, caramel or green colored. The bottles are an example of a primary source(Cohen, 2015).. The bottles are artifacts. The plaque says that the bottles are antiques from a bottle collectors Association and that they were manufactured in the Sacramento region (Nix 2015).
