Software-as-a-Service (SaaS): Understanding its adoption level amongst business enterprises in Nigeria

Submitted on

In partial fulfilment of the Postgraduate Study in MSc. Business Information Systems

Abstract
The attention that Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has garnered in recent years has focused on the new business model that on-demand software enables. IT stakeholders for business enterprises are sometimes misinformed about benefits accruable from adopting SaaS offerings for their organisation’s software delivery as opposed to the traditional procurement of legacy softwares, not mindful of the inherent pitfalls that may arise later.

One of the purposes of this research is to explore the SaaS market within Nigeria, especially amongst large and medium scale business enterprises in the private sector. To do this, particular emphases will be placed on issues surrounding the adoption level of SaaS platform offerings by business enterprises, supposed factors for and against its adoption by enterprises in Nigeria. This will help generate valuable information regarding the penetration of SaaS within the Nigerian market, and empirical data that can drive further research in this field.

To achieve the purpose of this study, mixed methodologies will used. A cross-sectional survey will be conducted, where an electronic-copy questionnaire will be sent to 50 respondents of 50 business organisations stratified into medium and large industry scales, evenly distributed across 5 business segments.
