The Romans were thought to be the first to realize the benefit of trade with India. They chose to just have a part in the trade market however not attempt to gain control of the country. Eventually the
British chose to go into India with the idea of colonization. The Indians were for the colonization at first.
They realized the benefits of modern technology that the British could bring. However later they realized that they had lost all control of their country and were being treated as immigrants or second class citizens in their own country.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 is known as a series of revolutions that occurred.

Such as, modernized goods and transportation and also help with education and healthcare. The downside to British control was that the Indian people were considered only half citizens despite it being their country. The British also controlled the economy, the government and brought technology to the country as it was being discovered ("Colonial india ," 2001).
Initially the Indian people accepted the British rule because of the benefits. The British had the

The British took all political power from the Indian government. For example of the 960 civil offices that controlled the civil administration of India, 900 were ran by British Men and the other 60 offices were ran by the natives of India (Doc. 2). Also the Indians had no power to change taxation (Doc. 2). In document 1 it says “For a hundred years you have done everything for us. You have given us no responsibility for our own government.”…

Therefore Britain did not care about Indians and their well-being, and instead only cared for their own profit and gain. In addition, Britain was able to control the Indian economy due to mercantilism. Mercantilism is the establishment of foreign trading monopolies. This can be seen in India where the British took raw materials from India, produced them in their own industries in Britain, and sold the finished products back to India (Textbook, pg. 358). Britain was able to control the economy because the imported goods were much cheaper than the ones made in local Indian industries.…

The British began by building houses in an unobtrusive way which led the indigenous people to believe they could co-habitate, but as the English spread, the natives were forced to move or fight for their land. Eventually interactions with the British led to domination of Native Americans not only by taking their land, but through spreading devastating diseases for which Native tribes had no immunity.…

While document 5 shows a slight increase in literacy during British rule, it was the ability to communicate with other people in person that made the largest impact. As Lalvani says, “The English language allowed communication between people of different backgrounds”. With the power of a language, the people of India could stand up against the negative political impacts that the British had, even if their attempts to protest were decimated by unjust laws. Another nightmare India was dealing with when the British gained control was the epidemics of multiple deadly diseases spread throughout the country. Smallpox and Malaria were spread from corner to corner and people were dying in large numbers. While document 7 shows that an additional 22 million people died due to starvation under British rule, more people could have died from smallpox and malaria epidemics. Between 1926 and 1930, there were just under 1 million cases of smallpox in India (Indian Journal of Medical Ethics). Being that smallpox was one of the two major deadly diseases and this was merely a 4-year period, the number of casualties could have easily topped 200 million, if not for the British. The cures they brought to the helpless people of India saved countless lives, and the…

When the British adopted India into their empire, India was ruled under the Queen. There were people sent to keep watch over the Indians. Since the British's conquering of India, Muslims and Hindus have been conflicting. Perhaps the reason for this is because overall, Hindus adapted to English education more readily than the Muslims; therefore being more "advanced" then the Muslims. Perhaps that caused conflicts to arise as intellect…

The British rulers exploited the country. At the time of independence, the country was in turmoil, its economy had been shuttered and there was unrest all around. In sixty years since independence, the country has made tremendous progress. However, it is still for behind the developed counties of the world. India of my dreams is a peaceful, progressive, literate country free from the pangs of poverty, where every citizen feels safe and secure, where health facilities are provided top all and where the women of the country are treated with utmost dignity and…

The British first arrived in India in the early 1600s and soon established trading posts in a number of cities under the control of The East India Company. By 1765 the Company’s influence had grown to such an extent that the British were effectively controlling most parts of the country. This date is often taken as the start of what is referred to as The Raj — a period of British rule in India that lasted until Independence in 1947.…
