Run Boy Run Helenn Herman Summary
Good Morning. My short story that I chose is called “Run, Boy, Run” by Willian Herman. The reason why I chose this story is as I believed it was inspirational. The story was about a boy named Glenn who overcame his laziness and became one of the greatest and fastest runners in Kansas City.

The initial conflict of this story is when Glenn, an 8-year old boy attempted to save his older brother from a fire. Glenn’s closest friend, his brother didn’t survive the fire, but Glenn did. In addition, the fire ate deeply into his flesh. According to the doctors, he would be the boy “who would never walk again”. Some of the primary characters are Glenn, his brother Floyd, and his parents. In this story, Glenn is a positive, cheerful, and vigorous. His brother, Floyd is a calmly paced person. Floyd doesn't prefer to try new ideas or take chances in anything he thinks is too risky. Lastly, Glenn's parents. Cliff and his wife are affectionate and loving. After Floyd's death in the fire and Glenn's burned legs, the felt that they must provide everything for Glenn with their heart and their full attention. The setting of this story takes place in Kansas City. The weather was a development between the completion of winter and the beginning of spring. …show more content…
This story teaches that it does not matter what you pass through. However, you must overcome your laziness and have courage.

This story follows the traditional model of a rising action-working into a climax. The author separated the story into two sections. The first climax was when Glenn's legs got burned in the fire. Following it, is the second climax. That was when Glenn beat the United States record of running 2 km in 4 minutes and 4 seconds. The story showed that the boy "who would never walk again" just beat the United States record.

This story was composed accurately and everything occurred like it was intended to be there. My decision was not to add or eliminate anything in this

    The narrator has a younger brother whom is disabled, Doodle. The narrator decides he wants to teach Doodle to walk and run. This is one of his major flaws.     Many people face pain and hardships throughout life and learn to accept reality using courage and strength. In the “Long Way Home” an excerpt from Miracle in the Andes, Nando Parrado faces many hardships. In the beginning of the novel Nando is heartbroken due to the fact that his plane has crashed in the Andes Mountains, and that many people including his best friends, and his mother, and sister have died. His thoughts haunt him, telling him to survive, and not “waste tears”, as they will be needed for his survival. In a small, sad way, I had taken a first step back toward my father.” Throughout the excerpt conditions worsen, many more of Nando’s friends die, and the food becomes scarce. With courage and strength, Nando decides that he must climb the mountain to save himself and reach home to his father. He takes a few friends with him for the journey. Along the way, he faces many hardships, but his determination and courage help him reach his goal.
