Rudi hated to go home with his left ear bleeding and his right eye almost closed. Rudi was driving home from his college football practice. His coach was amazed on how Rudi dived for the football and rolled into the endzone. As Rudi walked into his dorm room he looked around to see if his roommate, Jamie, was home. Relieved that Jamie wasn’t home, Rudi crouched next to his bed and pulled out his ballet bag which consisted of water, a apple, extra tights, and an extra leotard. As Rudi slipped of his sweaty football jersey and equipment, Rudi felt as if a large weight was being lifted of of him. Rudi took a short shower and slipped on his uniform. Rudi stuck his head out the door to see if anyone was prancing down the hall. The coast

But on this particular night, a humid night at that, there was absolutely no sound to be heard. Not even the squeal of a tyre edging around the street corner, or the cackle of an old man passing by. Feeling the aching in my wrists turn to a sharp pain, I peered down at the several plastic bags that I was holding; full of the essential shopping that I had gone out to get last minute for dinner. One of the bags (the one that was hurting my wrists) was clearly overfilled, but I couldn’t do anything about that, not now, in the middle of the street. Letting out a heavy sigh, I carried on walking, reaching carelessly into my pocket to clasp my phone. In the humidity, it felt lovely to have the cold, metal block against my hands. I pulled it out, feeling around in the darkness around me for the switch to turn it on with. I paused, under a spot in which the moonlight was beaming down upon on the road. Underneath the only source of light in the pitch black city, I checked my phone for any messages or calls that we important. There was nothing, apart from one message from my sister telling me to buy her some magazines. I hadn’t and since I had already come out of the shop and had begun my walk home, I wasn’t going to go back just for her sake. Feeling even hungrier as the time sped past, I decided that it would probably just be better to go home so that I could eat as quickly as possible. My stomach however, had other ideas. The loud rumble that came from deep inside it, suggested that I should eat preferably sooner rather than later. Ignoring it, I crouched down and scooped up my plastic shopping…

Have you ever heard someone earning there livelihood by selling there surrows or let me say shedding a few drops of it. Sounds weird..Ryt? trust me it is! The torn pages of the ancient books never seizes to amaze/intrigue me with new words and the way these words turned the lives of the women in 360 degrees direction. “No, we have to get our bags packed, today's the day,” Said Josie. I got up, my bones aching worse than a two day old flu shot, and my head spinning quicker than a hurricane. Jimmy was awakened by his mother calling up the stairs, "Jimmy, you're going to be late!" He looked at the small alarm clock and saw that the hands had stopped moving at 2:36. He must have forgotten to wind it again. He jumped out of bed and stumbled to the bathroom. Fortunately, he'd showered just two days ago so he could get by without one today. He splashed his face with cold water, brushed his teeth, and slicked back his hair with Bril cream. Then he returned to his bedroom to get dressed in cotton pants, a cotton button-down shirt, and a sweater vest. He hadn't polished his shoes for a few days and they needed it, but they'd just have to wait; he didn't have time this morning.…

Peering up to the window, I smiled as I knew the day was going to be great. I rubbed my eyes with the heels of my hands, and jumped out of bed. Heading down the hallway to the backyard, my eyes focused on the green grass beyond the screen door, I knew this was the day. I’d been trying for weeks, but that day was different. I had a good feeling in the pit of my stomach that all the trying and failing would turn around. I grabbed my shoes and socks from the back door, sat on the wooden floor, and quickly put them on. Luckily my shoes were velcro and didn’t tie up, as I had forgotten the bunny song to help tie up shoes. As I pushed the screen door open, I noticed that Dad was already outside, taking my training wheels off. He wanted me to succeed almost as much as I did. I raced towards Dad, bounced up and gave him, what felt like, a gigantic hug, as he seemed like a giant compared to me. He put me down and I skipped into the garage, where all the magic was going to happen.…

Before I knew it, the spotlight was on us. As we slowly made our way up the ramp, the announcer introduces us as Judy and Juan. Hearing the names of someone else shocked both of us. Then it happened- as we turned, our feet became entangled in my formal; with a hop, skip, and jump, we tripped down the ramp towards the stairs. Determined to climb the stairs gracefully, I started a slow ascent. Upon reaching the top step, I realized I had also climbed up the inside of my dress and was now on my knees. The thick, burnt scent of roasted coffee tickled the tip of my nose just seconds before the old, faithful alarm blared a distorted top-forty through its tiny top speaker. Wiping away the grit of last night's sleep, the starch white sunlight blinded me momentarily as I slung my arm like an elephant trunk along the top of the alarm, searching for the snooze button. While stretching hands and feet to the four posts of my bed, my eyes opened after several watery blinks. I crawled out of the comforter, edging awkwardly like a butterfly from a cocoon, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. The dusty pebbles on the chilled, wood floor sent ripples spiraling from my ankles to the nape of my neck when my feet hit the floor. Grabbing the apricot, terri-cloth robe, recently bathed in fabric softener and October wind, I knotted it tightly at my waist like a prestigious coat of armor and headed downstairs to battle the morning.…

I walked to the outside balcony of my friend’s second story apartment. The air was pretty crisp and the only light was from the light poles around the parking lot. I answered the phone nervously. “I got back the results of all my tests and I’d like everyone to get together this Sunday for dinner so that we can discuss what is going on with my legs.” my dad said. The news hit me like a wrecking ball, and my heart sunk to my stomach like a demolished building to the ground. He didn’t even have to tell me, I just knew.…
