Cost data will be collected, compiled and analysed, and will be processed into information of use to management. You will also deal with budgetary planning and control, forecasts and budgets. Learning outcomes On successful completion of this assignment you will be able to: 1 Collect and analyse cost information within a business 2 Propose methods to reduce costs and enhance value within a business 3 Prepare forecasts and budgets for a business 4 Monitor performance against budgets within a business. Assignment Focusing on a work role, previous work experience or a voluntary work position, using examples from your own workplace experiences where possible, and drawing on your studies of this subject, please answer ALL four sections below.     Since the company's main objective is to maximise profit, a planning and control system is essential. Firstly, a strategy that best satisfies the objectives of a company has to be selected. Secondly, the decision has to be implemented into a planning process. Therefore, a budget that relates to the entire activity of a company and to forecasted future revenues and expenditures has to be prepared. Standard costing can assist in budget setting and it supports cost control by setting standards. Establishing a standard cost for each unit produced enables a detailed analysis of budgeted and actual costs so that costs can be controlled more effectively.
