Rotc
Why do I think that I would make a good ROTC candidate? I believe that I’m a perfect specimen for an ROTC scholarship because I have been a military brat my whole life, have great leadership skills, and care about my country. Those three characteristics are exactly what the U.S. military is looking for. I have lived in a military family my whole life. Living under the roof of a military officer for 18 years will let you know exactly what’s expected. Being with dad has allowed me to see past what most see. I can look past the illusion of what video games show us, I know that there is more to it. I’ve heard all of his stories about fighting overseas and all of the soldiers and friends he’s lost. I’ve watched him take off his boots from a 19 mile road march and his feet resemble hamburger meat. I know the lows and highs of the military life and I know I’m ready to face those obstacles. The biggest attribute for a soldier should be that the country comes first over anything. My dads missed huge chunks of my life because the military has called and he has answered. This has taught me that you put your own personal problems behind what your country needs. If it calls for your life then you give it your life. I love my country and I’m willing to give up anything that it asks from me. Lastly, a good officer needs leadership skills. I’ve been a varsity athlete in wrestling and football and been a captain in both. Participating in these sports has given me an advantage in leadership over most kids. I understand what its like to have people under you, looking up to you. To lead by example, not by words. Leading in the army doesn’t just require physical sacrifice, but it also requires mental sacrifice. My mental and physical strengths have been tested throughout my varsity career and its turned me into a great candidate for becoming a military officer. My knowledge of the U.S. Army puts me ahead of most kids applying for this scholarship. I know what is expected and

The Total Soldier uses the army Values in both his army career and also when he is not at work recognizing that he is always an ambassador for the army and the military as a whole to the civilian population. He or she is loyal to both there country and there fellow comrades that fight the same fight as they do on a daily bases. They put the mission first before there personal needs knowing that what they are doing is bigger than them and most likely what they see on there level. The "total Soldier" shows loyalty to what he or she believes in and what our army stands for and protects, Freedom. The total soldier recognizes his duty to his country, his chain of command and his mission and will always put his duty before his personal desires. The total soldier respects his chain of command and listens to what they say understanding that they know more than he does and though it may be a pain in the ass to wear our gear all of the time when were out, it is for our safety and our welfare that these rules are emplaced. He or she also has respect for his fellow soldiers and will take into account there suggestions when confronting a problem, because he knows that he doesn't know everything and that to accomplish the mission we need to work as a team. The Total soldier has honor and pride and would rather die than compromise either of these. He knows that if you don't have pride in what you do than it isn't worth doing and without it you can never completely give your all, the total soldier always gives his all. The total soldier has integrity and will always do what he is supposed to even when no one is looking, because…

Officers, he stated, have access to educational and leadership opportunities. Additionally, he mentions how the military seems to distance themselves intentionally from society with uniform and rank. He reinforced my idea that officers are separate from society and have higher expectations not only in the military to be their best, but whenever they are among civilians as…

First, I must choose the harder right. I strongly believe that a good officer is one that is not afraid to go that extra mile to ensure the safety and welfare of the soldiers under his command, this is very rarely easier than just doing the minimum. Secondly, a leader must remain calm in all situations. The soldiers under the command of a nervous and indecisive leader will tend to act in the same way, they actually "inherit" some of the traits that their commanding officer portrays, both on the battlefield and in garrison. If a leader even seems indecisive and unsure of him/her self then the soldiers he/she commands will be hesitant about following the orders they are issued, and hesitation on the battlefield does nothing more than cost lives. Next, I'd like to touch on the fact that in the army talent must be promoted. One should not be afraid to promote officers that have greater aptitude than that they possess. If talent had not been promoted, then Sam Damon would not have been able to create such a positive impact on the Army, and a few more soldiers could have lost their lives in combat.…

I should be considered for the HEBF scholarship due to my hard work and determination; not just in playing sports, but for improvement. Whether it be soccer, volleyball, or track and field, I have never given up when presented with a challenge. I rather look at it as an opportunity for growth, something that can, not only strengthen my physical skills but my collaborative skills as well. Something that I have learned from participating in sports is coming up with ways to overcome obstacles and to keep trying. That means pushing myself to the limit and overpowering boundaries. The experience from participating in each sport have somewhat in some shape and form, taught me the importance of being a leader and working to together. These skills…

Being able to be loyalty is a main attribute as in the battle field you will need to have each other’s back. For example if one of your men has injured them self you will need to make him priority and stop fighting and put attention on him, because his life is more important than fighting with opponent. Being loyal also means not to turn your back in one of your team mates will they need your help. For example if your team mates have not got his army shoes you could maybe lead him some so that you both are able to work on the front line. Also if you team mate has ran out of bullets supplying him with extras that you may have is involved in loyalty.…
