Preamble
This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of accommodation management in hospitality industry. Emphasis will be placed on Rooms Divisions’ traditional role as the best generator of the hotel’s revenue as well as its principal operational functions.

Objectives
By the end of the semester the students should have an understanding of:
The housekeeping division and its operations.
The guest cycle and the operational and managerial activities for each stage.
They should also be able to come up with reports on evaluating operations in the rooms division.
Communication between houseking and other Hotel departments.
Human resources in the rooms division department and its importance.

    Inter-relationship between the Front Office department and Housekeeping department is connected to one another, for an example, front office must prepare and provide a list of arrivals and departures for the day in advance as the housekeeping department needs to notify and prepare the assignments for the room attendants. Another example is the housekeeping department needs to inspect and release the room before the front office department assigns the guestrooms to the guests. As for the dependencies between these two departments, they both rely and depend on each other. The housekeeping needs to clean the room so that the front office department will be able to sell the rooms out to the guests. The front office department also provides important information which requires special care such as VIPs that are in house and this information is essential to housekeeping department so that the employees may take extra care of the VIP. The front office manager or night duty manager has to prepare the occupancy report or night report every night as this report are list of rooms that are occupied on that night and list of guest that will check-out the next morning. The housekeeping supervisor or manager will then study the list and assign the assignments to the room attendant to clean the vacant dirty rooms.
