Ronan
Ronan I used to be happy, now I just have moments of happiness. I live for those moments because they remind me of the person I used to be. In those moments I feel like the happy Maya I was before cancer took away my son Ronan. My husband and I and our twin boys, Quinn and Liam miss Ronan so much. He was the funniest little guy and made us love harder than we had ever done before and we are so thankful to have had him in our lives. Ronan Sean Thompson was born on May 12, 2007. From the moment he was born, we knew that he was the missing piece to our family puzzle. He completed our family and we were happier than we had ever been before. He was such a beautiful little boy. Everyone was in awe of his beautiful big blue eyes and his amazing little personality. He made us laugh so much with his mischievous ways and his love of the Ninja Turtles. He would watch the Ninja Turtles everyday and he could watch the same episode over and over again. Every time it came on he would run for the broom stick (his ninja weapon) and start doing his ninja moves. Then he would plop on the couch with his brothers and you wouldn’t hear a peep out of him till the episodes were done. This was probably the only time no one heard a peep out of Ronan, as he’s usually a little ball of energy. I remember the sound of his bare feet down the hallway in the morning. He would wake up and start running towards the kitchen, as he knew I would be there. I miss the sound of those footsteps in the morning most of all.
Our perfect family changed on August of 2010. The boys and I were away on our annual trip to visit my parents in Washington. On this day we were having family photos taken on the cornfield like we usually do and I noticed that Ronan’s eyes looked a little “off’ or “lazy”. I brought it up to my family members and they didn’t think anything of it, so I let it go and just continued on with our day. He wasn’t acting any different than usual, so I told myself I had no reason to be

We're often told that happiness is an illusion, and some of us believe it, despite the experience of our own life. Happiness is obviously not an illusion, because we've all felt it, not once but many times. Without a doubt, every person has ever experienced some kind of unhappiness. This is a very sad feeling. We always feel unhappy when we get sad news, or experience sad situations. I believe that if there was only happiness in this world, then all our worries and tears would be washed away. There would be no miseries, no suicides and no getting involved with drugs. I always try my best to be happy on all occasions, no matter which pain I experience. Whether the pain is emotional or physical, I believe was that happiness is the key and answer.…

When I asked my sister Audrey, upon my arrival a few hours earlier, whom I should expect to see at the party, she had answered, "Everyone!" with a high note of surprise in her voice, as if to add, "And all for a 2-year-old, who will likely be throwing rocks in the hallway all afternoon." Ronan has recently reached a top speed fast enough to outrun his pursuers if they don't jog as well, and in this moment, having just blown out his birthday candles, he has escaped, indeed, down the hallway to throw rocks. And I'm really shitty at cutting…
