Romeo And Juliet Weaknesses
Love can be one's’ biggest ally or one's’ greatest weakness. In “Romeo and Juliet” by Shakespeare, love is both an ally and a weakness. The love between Romeo and Juliet weakens them because they cannot be in love, and eventually both commit suicide. Romeo can be seen as a romantic, he falls head over heels for any girl he sets his eyes on, this can be both an ally and a weakness for him. His friend and servant, Mercutio, however is quite the opposite, love is a weakness for him. Mercutio gives Romeo a hard time for falling for Rosaline, and makes fun of him. But, throughout his speech to Romeo he switches from joking around to being very serious. I believe that he has stopped believing in love because of some past experiences, and Romeo’s

“Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love is a growing up.” This quote was made famous by James Baldwin and explains that love can be great, but can end in consequence. This quote can easily get blended in with the famous ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Williams Shakespeare. Which is about a couple who have to deal with their families hating one another. Even though a lot of romantic things happen, some parts led up to the fate of the couple. There are many examples of this that are evident throughout the play such as Romeo’s impulsiveness, Tybalt’s hot temper, and Friar Lawrence’s spontaneous planning.…

“Why, such is love’s transgression. Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast,... Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs; Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes; Being vexed, a sea nourished with loving tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, A choking gall, and a preserving sweet,” He is fonding over Rosalind before the party and as soon as he sees Juliet, he's suddenly in love with her. It is “love at first sight” and he forgets all about Rosalind. Another aspect is when Mercutio is killed by Tybalt; Romeo quickly acts to avenge his death and kills Tybalt,”Alive in triumph—and Mercutio slain!/ Away to heaven, respective lenity,/ And fire-eyed fury be my conduct now./ Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again/ That late thou gavest me, for Mercutio’s soul/ Is but a little way above our heads,/ Staying for thine to keep him company./ Either thou or I, or both, must go with him.” Romeo acting on impulse is a contributor to the deaths of Romeo and…

In the play Romeo and Juliet, the two characters Romeo and Mercutio, despite being close friends, are quite different when it comes to their personalities and the way they view things. What is a rather large difference between the two is their sharply contrasting views on love. Romeo is a romantic that takes love too seriously, although he has a bit of a habit of switching his feelings towards different girls. His character seems to suffer from a type of manic depression. He easily becomes enraptured in his feelings towards the girl he is currently in love with, and just as easily crushed when either the girl doesn't return his feelings, like what happened with Rosaline, or when he is unable to be with her, like the case with Juliet. An example that shows his feelings towards love is shown in the following quote:…
