Romeo And Juliet Forcefulness Of Love
In the play Romeo and Juliet, the writer, William Shakespeare, constructs a theme about the forcefulness of love. During the whole play, Act II scene ii expresses this thesis clearly, and even afterwards, Shakespeare interprets the theme in the play. In act two, scene two, after Romeo and his friends decide to go back home, Romeo decides to abandon them and risk his life to see Juliet once more. He hides in Juliet’s yard and awaits for Juliet to appear. ROMEO

Romeo feels that he can sacrifice his life just to meet Juliet again. Afterwards when Romeo sneaks into Juliet’s courtyard, he hears Juliet speaking of him. She says how her love toward Rome supersedes all other values, loyalties, and emotion. Juliet said, “Deny thy father and refuse thy name.... Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, / And I’ll no longer be a Capulet”(II.ii.34-36). But this leads to some decisions that are not rational. In the last few acts, Romeo doesn't receive Friar Lawrence’s letter and thinks that Juliet is really dead. He went back to Verona with a death potion and sacrifices his life, saying that he doesn’t have a purpose to live if Juliet is gone. Moments after he dies, Juliet wakes up and sees her love dead beside her. She says,
“what's here a cup closed in my true love's hand poison i see hath been his timeless end. oh churl drunk all and left no friendly drop to help me after. i will kiss thy lips some poisin doth hang on them, to help me die with a restorative. thy lips are warm. yea noise then ill be brief oh happy dagger this is thy sheath. there rust and let me die.”
