Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is heralded as a great “love Story”. With Romeo being involved with Rosaline at the beginning, and their families at war they were never thought to succeed as a couple. Romeo and Juliet have really achieved an iconic status in the modern era, a story of young reckless love that ends in tragedy (book rags). This couple experienced love at first sight. Romeo, a member of the Montague family, falls in love with Juliet, a member of the Capulet family at first site (gogalegroup). The couple first laid eyes on each other at the Capulet house, when Romeo and his cousin Benvolio attended the Capulet masquerade. Romeo was miserable after recently being denied love by Rosaline, so Benvolio and Romeo close friend Mercutio took Romeo to the Capulet feast to prove to Romeo other pretty women exist.

Juliet was set to observe Paris to see if she could fall in love with him. Juliet’s father Lord Capulet told Paris he would have to wait two years to marry Juliet. The wedding had to be kept as a secret (elements of literature). The lovers are from families long involved in a destructive and seemly intimidating feud (gogalegroup). Friar Lawrence performs the secret wedding in the hope that when the news is revealed the feuds between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s will end.
Before the marriage is revealed a fight breaks out (spark notes). The two men who are fighting is Romeo best friend Mercutio, and Juliet’s cousin Tybalt. Romeo tries to break up the fight, but in all of the commotion Tybalt kills Mercutio. Now angry and furious Romeo kills Tybalt. In order to restore peace to Verona the Prince banishes Romeo from the city. After the marriage and unaware of the secret wedding, Lord Capulet forces a marriage between Juliet and Paris. Juliet goes to the Friar for help. The Friar suggests that right before the wedding Juliet take a sleeping potion that would make it

Romeo And Juliet is an amazing play written by the all knowing William Shakespeare. It is a love story/tragedy that includes the two lovebirds Romeo and Juliet. They are from two different households that are enemies; Romeo is of the Montague family and Juliet is a Capulet. This makes it close to impossible for them to be together especially since Romeo killed Juliet’s cousin Tybalt whom Juliet’s parents loved very much. In the end, the couple ends up killing themselves over their “suicidal love” for each other. Over the course of the play, Romeo was supposedly in love twice. Once with Rosaline and then again of course with Juliet. At the beginning of the play he was infatuated with Rosaline and claimed that he would never get over her and…

“I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent” (Mahatma Ghandi). This quote says that violence can solve problems but only temporarily, the solution is never permanent. In many situations violence has sparked more violence, not just in Romeo and Juliet but in real life situations. William Shakespeare manages to take real-life themes and incorporates them into his plays. He brought the theme of violence creating more violence in Romeo and Juliet by making the two families, the Capulets and the Montagues, use violence as the solution to their problems concerning each other.…

In order to keep Romeo aware of this plan, Friar Laurence gives a letter explaining the effects and purpose of the sleeping potion to Friar John which he is to deliver to Romeo. Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of the young lovers as he neglects the importance of the delivery of the letter to Romeo as Friar John is held up in quarantine and unable to deliver the letter on time. In the play Friar Lawrence and the Nurse are to be blamed for Romeo and Juliet's death. Friar Lawrence, through his lack of good judgment, is largely responsible for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet. Rather than being supportive of them and helping them disclose their loving situation, Friar Lawrence took the easy way out by getting them married. He succumbed to their desire to elope. Friar "incorporates" the lovers into "two in one" to end the feud between the two families (Shakespeare II.iv.35-37).The Friar's mistake of giving Juliet the "distilling liquor" also indirectly leads to their deaths (Shakespeare IV.i.96). Although people say that Romeo and Juliet's "foolishness" of getting married lead to their deaths, it was not, it was Friars failed plan that went wrong and lead to the death of the secret lovers (Kerschen). If he wasn't so engaged to stop the feud between the two families, this plan would never have occurred. By getting Romeo and Juliet married and giving Juliet the potion, Friar didn't know that it will eventually lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet's surrogate mother, the nurse is also to be blamed for their death because of her betrayal against Juliet. The nurse tells Juliet to go "seek" for a man that will give her "happy days [and] nights" (Shakespeare I.iii.113). Later on the nurse thought, "it'd be best if [she] married the county" (Shakespeare III.v.218). This betrayal by the Nurse left Juliet alone. Juliet was left on her own to make some…

Before meeting Romeo, Juliet is naive young girl who is dependent on her family. In the beginning of the play, marriage is the furthest thing on Juliet’s mind. As a matter of fact, before she meets Romeo, Juliet had never been in love or even had a crush. When Juliet's mother, Lady Capulet, comes in to tell her about the nobleman Paris's proposal and asks her “Can you like of Paris, love?” (1.3.98). Juliet is surprised but she politely replies, “I’ll look like if looking liking move. / But no more deep will I endart mine eye / Than your consent gives strength to make it fly” (1.3.103-105). By saying that she won’t let herself fall for Paris anymore than her mother’s permission allows, shows that Juliet is very dependent on her mother and obeys her. Because she has never been in love before this does not seem like big deal to her. Juliet does not know anything about true love until she meets Romeo.…
