Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Nobody knows the exact person to blame for their deaths. Many people have different opinions about who is to blame. The play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare. Two teens from two different families have a hard time being together because their families don’t get along with each other. Three of the main characters that people blame are Mercutio, Friar, and Tybalt because they all did something in the play to influence their deaths.…
After the death of Mercutio, Romeo was devastated and in revenge killed Tybalt in cold blood to avenge his friend. After all, it is the law to killed the one who slew first. But because Tybalt was a relative of the prince, in anger and in grief, banished Romeo. What they don't know is that Mercutio was so anger at Romeo because it was his fault Mercutio died. He rose from the dead in a ghostly form that haunted Romeo forever.…
Mercutio and Tybalt have many differences that fuel their hatred for each other, even with these differences they are still extremely similar. Their differences and similarities contribute to the tragic ending. Their haste actions, the constant fighting, and their impacts on the play. Each of these components contribute to the tragedy. Mercutio and Tybalt’s death is their biggest contribution to the play; it causing a domino affect of events such as the banishment of Romeo.…
4. Mercutio is fatally stabbed by Tybalt and shortly dies. Fuelled with rage after his friend's death, Romeo then seeks Tybalt in order to kill him. They fight, resulting in Tybalt's death.…
Shakespeare is forced to kill off Mercutio "lest he steal the show from the major figures of the plot". His brash attitude draws attention away from the problems of Romeo and Juliet. When Tybalt seeks Romeo in a public street, Mercutio challenges him to "couple [his words] with something" and "make it a word and a blow". His recklessness and quick response for something so dangerous is a demonstration of his preferences. However, as a kind of side effect, his preferences tend to pull the spotlight away from the main characters. Mercutio duels Tybalt when the swordplay is meant for Romeo.…
In the final scene of the play the prince states that some will be pardoned and some will be punished. Someone needs to take responsibility for the death, devastation, and horror that they have caused in the streets of Verona. The feuding families have scared the people and run amok for too long. We believe that the Capulets are responsible for the feud and the fight at the beginning of the play.…
Blaming a person who only wanted to show honor to ones kin's long-standing tradition seems absurd. However, people often accuse Tybalt Capulet from Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the play, Tybalt made various impulsive actions and choices which were not the best, but inevitably his responses were not irrelevant. Tybalt did not cause the tragic amount of deaths in Verona. He was merely trying to keep up with the feud. Mercutio induced Tybalt into their duel and Mercutio's death was accidental.…
Benvolio, who wanted everyone to be friends, warned the guys not to fight in public. Insults were exchanged, but Romeo remembered that Tybalt is his new wife's cousin, so he turned the other cheek. Mercutio found this totally shocking, actually dishonorable, so he offered to fight Tybalt instead. They fought and then Romeo tried to intervene, but Tybalt suddenly stabbed Mercutio. Romeo and Benvolio assumed that Mercutio has not been badly hurt because he started joking about his damage but it was no joke. He was dying. A minute later, he died. Romeo blamed himself for Mercutio's death. So, he decided to man up by challenging Tybalt to a duel. And then finished him by killed Tybalt. This quote showed that Tybalt is always looking for a fight and that he always thinks he is going to win anything no matter what. He is a coquie and a prideful person. If he had not started the fight there would not have been no death, because Tybalt killed Mercutio and with force Romeo killed Tybalt, Romeo got banished which changed everything in the story. Lastly, these are the reasons why Tybalt had a big responsibility of why the lovely teenagers…
Tybalt came at them first to fight romeo, but instead mercutio got in the middle of it and started to go back and forth with tybalt and they drew their swords and romeo came and tried to break it up. Tybalt Killed mercutio and romeo killed tybalt. Tybalt Disobeyed lord couplet/prince by approaching the montiques first and not ignoring it like lord couplet said to do. Who is responsible for tybalt's death?…
Many people took part in the death of Romeo and Juliet, but out of all the wrong done who deserves the blame? In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo was heart broken until he saw Juliet at a Capulet’s masquerade ball. Then as they began to date they wanted to be married, but would have had to be married in secret due to their feuding families. When Friar Lawrence agreed to marry them, their worlds flipped upside down in a twist of unfortunate events. Friar Lawrence deserves the blame of their deaths because he married Romeo and Juliet, he gave Juliet a sleeping potion, and he did not make sure Romeo received his letter.…
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story of two young lovers doomed from the beginning. In this tragic tale, the parents of the two teenagers are usually assumed to be the most at fault for what occurred within those few days. Many people believe that the kids were innocent victims in the whole situation, and none of those events would have occurred if the parents wouldn’t have been so idiotic and made such hasty decisions. These people most often can agree that the leaders of the Montague and Capulet families are the only ones left to punish in this situation. After all, they were the ones who put everyone in this situation. The parents do deserve a lot of blame, but they are not the only ones who deserve it, and the kids were not mere innocent…
As romeo is being banished, he claims “there is no world without verona walls, but purgatory torture and hell itself.” (3.3.16-17) Romeo claims he could not live without verona and juliet. He has lived in verona all of his life and he will have a hard time adjusting, but what he would kill himself over a life without Juliet. As romeo is about to kill himself, he says “with that hand cut youth in twain to sunder his that was thine enemy” (5.3.108-107) Romeo is apologizing to tybalt for killing him. Romeo was just doing what the law would’ve done. If Romeo let the prince take care of tybalt, then he would not have been banished. And romeo and juliet could run away together. Tybalt is most responsible for the death of romeo because Romeo was just doing what anyone of that time would’ve done if a person killed someone they…
For the second argument “Wouldn’t it be someone else's fault?” I do not agree with this question. I feel that the character that is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death is Tybalt. Tybalt caused the first domino to fall. Other people may have done questionable things but the Prince should blame the guy that started it. If two people were in a fight who would get blamed, the guy that started the fight and threw the first punch, or the guy with a black eye just because he threw the second punch to defend…
These deaths that occur appear in, and greatly impact, both the Montague and Capulet families. When Romeo first appears at the Capulet party, Tybalt instantaneously notices him, and becomes quite angry. Tybalt runs to Lord Capulet, to see he can be granted to permission to remove of Romeo. Lord Capulet responds surprisingly well to the news of Romeo arriving at the party. “Content thee gentle coz. Let him alone.” States Capulet in act 1 scene 5. However, Tybalt has a different opinion on what should happen to Romeo. Because of Tybalt’s differing opinion, he later, in act 3 scene 1, finds Romeo and proceeds to throw insults around. Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend, becomes angry at Tybalt for insulting his best friend, and decides to fight with Tybalt. Romeo disagrees with this decision and tries to break up the fight. Mercutio ends up being stabbed by Tybalt, and then out of anger Romeo kills Tybalt. Because all of these characters had differing opinions, lives were lost, leaving long lasting effects on both…
Another significant character that contributes to Romeo and Juliet's death by thinking with his heart was Romeo himself. Mercutio is the best friend of Romeo. He decides to provoke a fight with Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. At first, the fight was for fun, but Tybalt ended up stabbing Mercutio, which resulted in him dying. Romeo found out about his best friend's death, and he wanted revenge. He sought out Tybalt and ended up slaying him. Because of this, the Prince banished Romeo for his actions. Juliet's nurse ends up telling her that Romeo killed Tybalt and he is banished. This brings a lot of misery to Juliet, she says, “Some word there was, worser than Tybalt’s death, that murdered me. I would forget it fain,…
