Language can be seen and heard; it can be diverse or standard. With this in mind, discuss the different roles that language can have in a child's life.
Language can be seen and heard, from the moment a child is born through cries, laughter and in inaudible sounds accompanied by gestures toddlers produce. These means of communication always convey meaning, and an interest in communication. Language is a set of social standards that shows comprehension of the meaning behind words. As a child, language, is an important skill that allows a child to communicate in a meaningful way, and to adequately exchange information. Aiding children to create new brain connections during a time when their brains are specifically “wired” to learn speech and language skill is a bond between parents and children alike. Which in turns builds an emotional connection where values and society norms are passed as children grow. Babies are born learning. The brain grows more the first three years than any other time in a persons’ life so this means what happens to the child in the first three years will influence that person ability to learn, wellness, health and social interaction. It doesn’t mean it’s set in stone but it does set a foundation. Every interaction with a child causes a connection in the brain, and this includes speech and language. Developing these skills at an early age will help a child throughout life, such as in; school, relationships and employment. In all essence a means of communication, whether it may be spoken, signed, or braille, it is an invention by human civilization to live a more intelligent and comfortable life, which is necessary in this day and age. Without so as the child will eventually grow up, will face many difficulties in achieving anything in a modern society, life would be sad, lonely and almost unlivable. Taking a look on most Western societies, knowing a set language such as English one can flourish well with motivation, hard work, intelligence and adept use of the language.
