I wasn’t a big fan of the film 1492. The portrayal of Christopher Columbus in this film was very inaccurate as far as what he brought to the so-called "New World". The film displayed Columbus as the first person to locate America and to cross the Atlantic Ocean but as history shows others had accomplished this years before he did. In the film he could be looked at as both the villain and as a hero. He was obviously looked at as a hero to some because he is the one who was supposedly responsible of discovering America. Even though Christopher Columbus is thought to have discovered the New World, a lot of people considered him to be a villain because of the way he treated the indigenous people he met.
