Role of Chemistry in Human Welfare
Chemistry is the science of matter and the changes it undergoes. The science of matter is also addressed by physics, but while physics takes a more general and fundamental approach, chemistry is more specialized, being concerned with the composition, behavior (or reaction), structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions. It is a physical science which studies various substances, atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination, and which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes.
Disciplines within chemistry are traditionally grouped by the type of matter being studied or the kind of study. These include inorganic chemistry, the study ofinorganic matter; organic chemistry, the study of organic (carbon based) matter; biochemistry, the study of substances found in biological organisms;physical chemistry, the study of chemical processes using physical concepts such as thermodynamics and quantum mechanics; and analytical chemistry, the analysis of material samples to gain an understanding of their chemical composition and structure. Many more specialized disciplines have emerged in recent years, e.g. neurochemistry the chemical study of the nervous system.

2011 was officially designated the "International Year of Chemistry" by the United Nations to commemorate the achievements of chemistry and its contributions to Mankind. I thought i would present my 1 Minute Take on the topic "Chemistry for Human Welfare."

"It is impossible to deny that Chemistry has played a major part in determining the nature of the modern world." - Linus Pauling, Double Nobel Laureate.

Chemistry is the study of Matter itself. The strides taken by Humans in the two millennia have a close connection with every science, Chemistry included.

Chemistry and human welfare are two interwoven aspects where both of them are complementary to each

Chemistry is one branch of knowledge that grew from human curiosity about the world and has played a central role in the development of the modern world. Chemistry is the study of the composition of matter, the stuff things are made of, and the changes that matter undergoes. Now, we may not think chemistry plays such a big role in our life but it perhaps more than any other branch of science has bettered our lives. Almost anything we touch today has benefited from chemical technology, and there for chemistry has had a huge influence on human life. Chemistry is truly a powerful tool. It can create a better future for us, or if misdirected, can lead to our doom. It's important that we study chemistry everyday and understand its principles. Chemistry helps us understand ourselves and the world we live in better.…

Chemistry is a vast quantity of a person’s everyday life. A person can find chemistry in his or her daily life in the foods that a person eats, air a person breathes, soap, and accurately everything a person comes in contact with. Chemistry is significant in everyday life because chemicals make up everything in life. For example, a person’s body, pet, a desk, the sun, food, and drugs a person may take, to name a few. A person can observe changes in chemistry caused by chemical reactions, such as leaves changing colors, cooking food, and mixing a cleaning product. Knowing chemistry can help a person make day-to-day choices that affect his or her life. For example, if a person should mix certain household chemicals together.…

In more formal terms chemistry is the study of matter and the changes it can undergo. Chemists sometimes refer to matter as ‘stuff’, and indeed so it is. Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. Which is to say, anything you can touch or hold. Common usage might have us believe that ‘chemicals’ are just those substances in laboratories or something that is not a natural substance. Far from it, chemists believe that everything is made of chemicals.…

Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the identification of the substances of which matter is composed. Chemistry has to do with many things we use today. For example, fireworks are made by the chemical combining magnesium, titanium, copper, aluminum, strontium, or other periodical elements. Things also like making plastic, jewelry, coins, etc. In this chemistry lab, you will be working with many different chemicals, calculations, equipment so it is wise to learn how to work them.…

Chemistry was discovered by a Greek man called Leucippus in the fifth century BC. He came up with the idea that the world was made up of atoms or voids. His student Democritus further refined this idea of the atom and improver the theory so it can make more sense. On the other hand many people did not believe in chemistry and Democritus' theory.…

Well, this involvement usually begins first thing each morning. Most people wake up to an alarm or radio. These common household items contain batteries, which make them very chemically dependent. These batteries contain positive and negative electrodes. The positive electrode consists of a carbon rod surrounded by a mixture of carbon and manganese dioxide. The negative electrode is made of zinc. Chemistry plays an important role in the discovery and understanding of materials contained in these and many other common household items. Things like household cleaners and water purification systems are vitally dependent on chemistry. Without chemistry something as simple as scrubbing a toilet without fear of severe burns or small explosions might not be possible.…

What is chemistry? According to dictionary.com, the definition of chemistry- is the science that deals with the composition and properties of substances and various elementary forms of matter. Chemistry is everywhere. For example: in a kitchen, it is in everybody's chemically treated water, or fruits grown with fertilizers and pesticides, or polymer material in the marble counter tops. Again, Chemistry is everywhere. If a person wanted to go deeper into chemistry, they probably would state with the Periodic Table. The Periodic Table consists of many elements, for instance: Sodium (Na) is a metal, which is located in group 1, period 3, with an atomic number 11 and has a mass of 22.99. Chlorine (Cl) a nonmetal located in group 7A, also in period 3, with atomic number 17, and a mass of 35.45. When these two elements are put together, they make Sodium Chloride (NaCl), which is table salt that people use every day. In the periodic table, there are many different classifications of the elements like, Alkali metals, Alkaline Earth metals, Halogens, and Noble Gases. Out of all of the classification of…

Chemistry is everywhere. The air we breathe, the ground we stand on, the seas we sail, and the variety of living things including our own bodies; all these are made of substances that we call chemicals. These chemicals interact with one another, and, in many cases, these interactions produce new substances through processes known as chemical reactions. Over time, in high school I have learned much about chemicals and have mastered numerous chemical reactions, giving me the ability to modify existing substances and synthesize new ones. Consequently, chemist have created a whole new realm of materials such as those used in paints, plastics, textiles, pharmaceuticals, soaps, cosmetics, and more. Thus chemistry has provided an important foundation for our modern technological world. In what ways do we observe the operation of chemical principles in our everyday lives? Let us consider a few examples from the video that help illustrate our connections to chemistry.…
