The movie Robin Hood is about a highly skilled archer, named Robin Longstride, who fought alongside King Richard the Lionheart during the Crusade. Unforunately, King Richard died in the battle outside of France’s Chalus Castle and his younger brother, Prince John was forced upon the throne. King John quickly took charge, dealt with the Magna Carta, and ordered harsh new taxes among the nearby towns and these taxes are to be collected by Sir Godfrey. Secretly have been working with the French army, Sir Godfrey caused major commotion inside the English kingdom and planned attacks on his own kingdom. When Robin heard of the planned French invasion, he convinced King John to meet the French with an army. During the battle at Dover Beach, where each side met, Sir Godfrey was killed by Robin Longstride’s arrow and the French were forced to surrender. The movie Robin Hood was based off the English folklore written during the medieval period. The movie takes place before Robin Longstride earned his name and the inaccurate events that led up to his prestige. Director Ridley Scott changes the way King Richard the Lionheart was killed to keep the movie flowing and audience interested. According the movie, King Richard was shot by a French archer on guard at the Chalus Castle, he died slowly on the battlefield with his fellow kinsmen to comfort him. But originally, King Richard was shot by a French crossbowman out of revenge for killing his father and two brothers, but King Richard later died in his mother’s arms. Due to the time between King Richard was shot and the time that he died, the director had no choice but to incorporate a new and improved scene to keep the scene from dragging out and losing focus of the viewers. The director kept the initial concept of the King’s murder, but changed the time of death to almost
