Robert De Niro's Last Speech
If I were to recreate the video for a 21st century audience, I would cast an older actor such as Robert De Niro to be the speaker, and I’d set the scene in a hospital. The reason for casting an older actor is because I’d want the beginning of the speech to be a reflection on his past and all that he’s gone through, and the ending of the speech to foreshadow what his future will look like. With the setting as a hospital, the opening scene could be Robert De Niro talking in a hospital room while a baby is held in a nurse's arms. In the same room could be a whining young boy in a school uniform as his mother walks with him through the door to go to school. Next, the scene would move from the hospital room into the corridor as 2 young people in

This man would be a representation of the soldier. As he continues walking through the corridor, a doctor consoling and giving advice to a family would demonstrate the fifth act of life, as he has gained knowledge and is a respectable man. As Robert de Niro comes to the end of the speech, he changes his tone as he thinks of what the future holds for him. He passes an old man walking with a cane, representing the sixth act of life, and finally he ends in a hospital room. In the room is an old and dying man, representing the seventh and final act of life. Robert De Niro began in a hospital room that brought life to the stage, and ended back in a hospital room where life was ending. This entire scene is similar to that of the second video, as each life stage is being acted out as the speaker makes his way around the room, which is entirely different from the first video as the speaker did not have interactions with any life stages other than that of the school boy. In the first video, since the speaker was relatively alone as he moved across the stage, it wasn’t quite as easy to comprehend each stage of life, but with this version it would be simple to see what all seven ages of man are
