Road Rage
In this situation of road rage many laws were broken. The situation states that an old man and his wife pass the suspect’s car on the highway while blowing his horn. The suspect become angry and starts tailing the couple, calling them derogatory names and pointing a handgun at them till they reach the couples house. The wife continuously tells the suspects that her husband has a heart problem. This did not matter to the suspects and continued trying to fight the old man. The wife calls the Sheriff’s Office and a deputy and EMS respond. Her husband collapses and dies less than thirty-minutes later of a heart attack. When the police try to stop the suspects they lead the police on a ten mile, 90 mile per hour car chase. When they hit a dead end they start to run. Thirty minutes later 4 officers and k-9’s where on the scene looking for them and forty five minutes later they fought them. Both suspects confessed before their Miranda right were read to them. One of the suspects had to have his right leg amputated because of the attack from the K9. The deputies searched the car finding stolen property along with the car being stolen.
In this situation both the victim and the suspects can be charged with violations. The victim, even though it is a small violation, can to charge the misuse of the vehicles horn. Most regional car horn-related legislation was passed in the 1950s, '60s and '70s to control noise pollution within city limits (Worrall 20). The wording of such laws remains relatively unchanged to this day, and is similar in content from state to state, usually expounding the notion that it is illegal to use a car horn for any purpose other than to express warning.
