Introduction
In this task I will be investigating two businesses, one of them will be City of Westminster College and another one will be River Island. I will be providing a description, purpose, trading activities, sector, and type of business and the liability of each business.
Description & Trading activities
City of Westminster College is a college of Further Education. It is located in the central London. The college has got two centres, one is based in Paddington and another one in Queen’s Park. The centre in Paddington has a big studio which is used for training and performance, well equipped gym, sports hall to paly team sports, Learning Resource Centre with computers and books. City of Westminster College offers different types of courses, such as vocational for example BTEC Business or BTEC Travel and Tourism as well as academic ones for example A levels Maths, English or GCSE courses. It also provides some university courses. .
River Island is a high street fashion brand, which operates in many countries. It sells women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, such as dresses, skirts, jeans, jumpers, suits, waistcoats, hoodies as well as footwear, for instance boots, heels, trainers, and accessories for example bags, jewellery, watches and sunglasses. River Island was set up and it is owned by the Lewis family.

Public, private, not-for-profit businesses

Public sector businesses are those that are run by the government. Public sector businesses are less likely to take risks, because they operate for the good of the people rather than just to make a profit.
