This is a logical conclusion if you consider the military success of imperialistic entities such as the British or roman empires during the climax of their rule. Among other things, imperialism implies armed conflicts and resource diversion, which are, in essence, extremely costly. One example of how imperialistic war can be detrimental to all involved is how this type of war destroys lives and communities, including the lives of innocent civilians.
