The essay I choose to write about was Maya Angelou’s “Sister Flowers”. I believe that the purpose of this essay was to describe an important part of this person’s life that helped them to become a better writer/poet/reader and also describe what I think to be this persons mentor. This essay talks about how Mrs. Bertha Flowers decides to take Marguerite Henderson home with her to give her good books to read and to read her an excerpt form a book. I think it is a very well written and extremely descriptive essay, it makes you feel like you are there with them listening to the pages turning and almost taste the tea cookie or smell the vanilla from Mrs. Flower’s home.…

He carries the action, the emotion, and the bulk of the story. Yes, the other characters are necessary, but if it were not for Rick's command of the character that was written for him so aptly by Tony Rettenmaier, this short film would have unequivocally fallen flat. At least in my opinion.…

My experience with research writing has dated back to my years in high school. The sharp contrast in the ways I’ve learned to write an effective essay has become clear over my years in college. When reflecting back to my high school time the research paper that was the most glaring was the one done on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The teacher had given us a choice of different topics to choose from and I vividly recall looking over the topics and choosing the one that I felt had the most information in which you could write about. The topic that I selected asked us to analyze the ways in which Henrietta and her family’s right of privacy was infringed upon, and to evaluate the impact her cells had. The research paper that I recently did on artificial intelligence had both similarities and differences to the paper on Henrietta.…
