Richard Ramirez, known as "The Night Stalker", was a convicted serial killer back in the 1980's. He was born on February 29th, 1960 in El Paso, Texas. His father was a policeman and was often very abusive towards Ramirez. Ramirez was also prone to epileptic seizures due to two massive head injuries that happened when he was young. He went to school until he turned 18 when he dropped out and moved to California. Ramirez was mostly influenced by his cousin Mike to become a serial killer. Mike would always talk to Ramirez about his time in the war about the people he would torture. He would show him gory pictures of his victims, which Ramirez enjoyed. He had attacked a 22 year old woman named Maria Hernandez and shot her in front of her home. He then continued to go inside her home and found another woman inside. He had also shot and killed her. After an hour after these two murders, he had gone to a nearby park and attacked another woman. He pulled her out of her car into the middle of the road and shot her. After he shot her he left and fled the scene. When he left, the woman was still alive and breathing, but when an ambulance had finally arrived, she was already dead. These two separate incidents had gained a lot of attention in the media and had called Ramirez "The Walk-in Killer" and "The Valley Intruder". 10 days later on March 27th, Ramirez shot and killed a wife and her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Zazzara were killed by Ramirez in their home and had their eyes gouged out afterwards. The only evidence the police had were footprints that Ramirez had left in their front lawn garden. The couple were later found by their son Peter that same night when he returned

In his book, he goes into vivid detail about the 1938 rape case and how many believe that he had been wrongly accused. He was known as the “Night Stalker” because he would break into homes at night, raping and killing his victims. Ramirez got his start early, as he (unsurprisingly) had a rough childhood. His father was known to abuse him, and he spent some time in juvenile detention for petty crimes. He also sustained two major head injuries as a child, having a dresser fall on him and being knocked out by a swing at a park. However, he was heavily influenced by his cousin Mike, who was a Green Beret who had returned from the war in Vietnam. Mike told Richard graphic stories about the women he raped, tortured, and…

He wasn’t born worshipping Satan or killing people; however his antisocial personality in his teens along with a combination of factors could have caused him to become a serial killer. He had repressed feelings from not having parental figures to give him direction and being constantly abused at home. The closest thing that he had was his cousin who introduced him to violence, drugs, rape and satanism, and because of Ramirez’s nature he wasn’ able to get out of that situation. Ramirez’s also witnessed his cousin-in-law being murdered at a young age which accelerated his need to repress feelings, isolating him from others because of his secret he shared with his cousin. This caused him to act out in a similar way to what Zimbardo described in the Lucifer Effect. It states that good people can do bad things when put under immense pressure (Zimbardo, 2007). In Ramirez’s case the effects lasted the rest of his life and permanently changed his personality and personal beliefs. This proves that it could not have been nature that caused him to become like this because out of his four other siblings, not one of them became a serial killer because of growing up in the same environment. Only his personal experiences could have had the effect on him the way it did, causing him to believe that killing people was the way for him to worship satan, and ensure that he was watched…

He constantly moved back and forth between Chihuahua and Durango while committing small crimes such as robberies, although, he would only steal what he needed at the time. When he reached his teenage years, he committed his first murder. As the legend goes, when Villa returned to the estate in Durango where his family still lived and worked he discovered that his younger sister had been raped. The story is different each time but her rapist was either the overseer, landlord’s son, or the landlord himself. Furious at what had happened he sought out his sister’s attacker and shot and killed him (Carroll 33). Because he was on the run from the law so frequently he made the decision to change his identity. To search for work while avoiding the risk of being found by the police he changed his name to Francisco Villa and fled back Chihuahua. The reason behind the origin of his name is still unknown (Katz 92-93). Although this seems to have put Villa as a very dangerous criminal he really wasn’t all that bad. He was noted as being a generous guy but his temperament and sudden mood shifts were the only problem which made him dangerous. It is said that he would explode with rage at even the slightest thing that upset him. Villa made several attempts at trying to return to living a legal life by becoming employed, mostly by foreign companies, yet his life of banditry and living with gangs made it nearly impossible. “What all the statements by foreigners who hired Villa have in common is that they recognized his qualities as a leader of men and hired him primarily for that purpose” (96). This lifestyle, along with his independent qualities, made him a prominent figure for the upcoming…
