Richard Chelson Character Analysis
After years of fascinating complaints, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) received their favorite one yet. On the morning of November 25, 2016, the FCC received an interesting email from the Mormon’s of Tomorrow leader, Betty Dickerson. In the email Mrs. Dickerson, expressed that on Thanksgiving morning her son, Richard Dickerson, verbalized what he was truly thankful for. Coming from a well-respected family in Mount Pleasant, Utah, Mrs. Dickerson said she was expecting her son to be thankful for his extended family, his Cocker Spaniel “Lucky”, and his playmates. However, what Richard shared with her was not what she had been expecting. Mrs. Dickerson said that Richard pulled out a picture of his favorite T.V. show characters, Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato, from the famous T.V. show VeggieTales. “It was at this moment,” wrote Mrs. Dickerson, “that I could not believe what I had seen. Dickerson tells sources that she plans to take her complaint national and attack the “broader issues” of media today. The FCC, however, have not entertained this matter and do not plan on mobilizing any plan of action. “...This is simply because the show is indeed not inappropriate or pornographic in any way, but can be left to interpretation by the masses,” said Mr. Wheeler. In fact, an insider from FCC headquarters in Utah, gave their description of what the office staff’s reaction was, “Our complaint department was at a standstill, ...do we respond to this woman and express our sympathies, or should we ignore it for its severe lack of legitimacy and logic?” One employee opted for a better solution, with a suggestion of watching season 3 of VeggieTales.
