Review Four Weddings and a Funeral
Four weddings and a funeral, directed by Mike Newell, is a quite amusing film that takes place mainly in London and the Home Countries. This acclaimed British romantic comedy is focused on the intermittent romance between a charming, but bumbling Englishman -Charles- and a beautiful American woman -Carrie-, who seem to always run into each other at weddings.
The story begins with the wedding of Angus and Laura, at which Charles is the best man. At this wedding, Charles meets Carrie for the first time and spends the night with her. Then, she goes back home to America. Nevertheless, they meet again in the second wedding, where she introduces him her fiancé. Soon, Charles receives an invitation to Carrie's wedding, he desperately tries to confess his love to her, but it is too late. Moreover, at this wedding a friend of Charles dies of a heart attack and it makes Charles to take a quick and unconscious decision: he wants to marry his “true love” as soon as possible.
This film has a delightful script with some wonderful writing and polished performances. The cast , which includes Hugh Grant as Charles and Andie MacDowell as Carrie, is also excellent, emphasizing the superb performances of all the characters. What is more, the soundtrack, mostly by Elton John, is absolutely brilliant.
I highly recommend this film because you find yourself reacting to the weddings and the funeral almost as you do at real events involving people you didn't know very well, and wanted to know better. Don’t miss
