Chapter 1
I. Introduction Cordova National High School is still using a semi‐computer based system and paper‐based student information system. Staffs find it tedious in searching and preparing reports on student’s information and also laborious due to repetition of processes done in filling and updating of records. As main goals of the school “to generate and disseminate new knowledge and technologies that will promote sustainable resource development and enrich the competent and effective services geared towards efficiency and economy” the current system is inconsistent with the asserted school’s main goals.
The main objective of the study was to design and develop a Student Information System of Cordova National High School. It would be a great help to the administrative personnel, academic personnel, grantors or stakeholders, parents and students in updating, retrieving and generating student data. The Student Information System is a secure, confidential collection of data about students attending early college high schools throughout the World. The SIS provides information and analyses to guide the development and improvement of early college high schools. It also provides evidence on how well early college high schools are achieving their mission: to help young people progress toward the education and experience they need to succeed in life and a family-supporting career.
Quality data, like quality students, come from schools. While it is undeniably harder to teach a student than it is to collect statistics, there are procedures that can help us achieving our goals in both cases. Recently, there has been a growing awareness that effective teaching, efficient schools, and quality data are linked. The quality of information used to develop an instruction plan, run a school, plan a budget, or place a student in a class depends upon the school data clerk, teacher, counsellor, and/or school secretary who enter data into a computer. With that in mind, the focus of this guide is on data entry - getting things right at the source. The objective of Student information System is to allow the administrator of any organization to edit and find out the personal details of a student and allows the student to keep up to date his profile .It’ll also facilitate keeping all the records of students, such as their id, name, mailing address, phone number, DOB etc. So all the information about a student will be available in a few seconds. Overall, it’ll make Student Information System an easier job for the administrator and the student of any organization.
The main purpose of this SRS document is to illustrate the requirements of the project Student information System and is intended to help any organization to maintain and manage its student’s personal data. Jobs for the Future coordinates the SIS and analyzes school and student outcomes and trends. JFF is a non-profit organization with overall responsibility for coordinating the Early High School Initiative nationwide. EDsmart, a leader in data systems for school districts, and Policy Studies Associates provide support for the development of the SIS, including the engagement of local school districts and higher education institutions in the effort.
Once implemented, this student information system will positively impact virtually everyone associated with the High School: students, their families, faculty and staff. The new system will increase data accuracy, make student information management more secure, effective, convenient and accessible, and begin to coordinate information across the system to simplify student access to High School resources.
Changes in Information Technology (IT) allow schools to utilize databases and applications such as Student Information System (OSIS) thus making the accessing of records centralized. One of the changes that came about is the online-based applications. These applications improved the traditional manual-transaction processing systems. Thus, most universities switch to the online-based system because of its effectively to acquire process, store and retrieve information from the Internet. Moreover, this system is accessible to all students’ information.
II. Statement of the Problem The main objective of the study was to design and develop a student information system of Cordova National High School. In order to achieve the general objective, the following specific objectives of the study were identified:
1. To identify the information requirements in the existing student information system.
2. To identify the problems encountered in the existing student information system.
3. To identify the information requirements needed in system.
4. To determine appropriate security and control measures are needed for student information system.
5. To determine the benefits of a student information system as perceived by:
1V. Significance of the Study In this study, the proposed system will inspire the other students to develop an effective and efficient system. The proposed system will introduce technology to Student Information System that until now adopting the manual method of Information management. The result of this study is beneficial to the following: Personal details: Details of student such as user id, phone number, address, image, resume, e-mail address etc.
Contact details: Details of contact associated with the student.
Administrator: A Login Id representing the user is an administrator & can access all the records details. V. Scope Delimitation of the Study Without Student information System, managing and maintaining the details of the student is a tedious job for any organization. Student Information system will store all the details of the students including their background information, educational qualifications, personal details and all the information related to their resume .
The proposed student information system is integrated to the website of the high school which serves as a portal for the students. The system covers the posting and updating of students’ personal data sheet, curriculum, grades slip, statement of accounts, and unofficial transcript of records. It also includes the status of a student whether active or inactive. An inactive status is further categorized to dropped, stopped, graduated or transferred. Under the statement of accounts, balance forwarding is also adopted. The system did not include the monitoring of attendance and queries such as subjects yet to be enrolled by students. The report generation includes students’ personal data sheet, curriculum, grade slip, statement of accounts, and unofficial transcript of records. It also includes a summary report of active and inactive students categorized according to subject.

111. Statement of Objectives: Is one part of a Request for Proposal from the school of Cordova National High School, Amulung West. Is an alternative to a public school prepared statement of work. A public school Cordova provides over all objectives and the offeror;s required support to achieve the contractual objectives. Offeror’s use the SOW as a basis preparing for High School, which included as an integral part of the proposal which the public school evaluates during the source selection. This concept and approach was introduced with the 1990’s to support underlying acquisition reform goals of “better, faster, cheaper” by allowing the students to achieve there goals from this school. This can be means of furthering Acquisition Reform Strategies, such as how the Teachers teach there fellow student, use of Performance Based Requirements to make the students for a higher education. This should be compatible with the needs statement, and the high school students for the breakdown structure.

V1. Conceptual Framework: The purpose of the study was to develop a conceptual framework for the development of high school for all the subjects of Cordova, National High School. It is expected that the framework will be used as a guideline to develop all subjects of high school for the Cordova’s students and/ or to revise existing ones. The formulation of a rationale to serve as a platform upon which the other components of the framework were to be based was the first step in developing the framework. The rationale was developed through the examination of four areas: (1) philosophy of education; (2) principles of learning; (3) knowledge in all subjects; and (4) needs and problems of Cordova. Criteria were developed from the related subjects literature to guide the following process: (1) selection and formulation of all the subjects they have for high school students; (2) selection and organization of subjects curriculum content; (3) selection of subjects teaching strategies; and (4) selection of methods and materials for evaluating subjects objectives. The criteria were validated by a group of authorities in education, members of National Council. Based on the the validated criteria, and harmony with the rationale, a conceptual framework for the development of high school in all subjects for Cordova students was proposed. In addition to the rationale, the proposed framework consists of the following components: (1) suggested there subjects for Cordova National High School; (2) suggested issues and problems; (3) suggested strategies for teaching high school subjects; (4) suggested methods and materials.
The students expressed there knowledge by there school through the help of teachers and also the community leaders utilized in the present and future by authorities in charge of Cordova education. However, validators also pointed out certain factors upon which the full adaptation and utilization of the framework might depend.
