Resilience
“Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work though difficult problems.”
Resilience is, “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.” (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.) It's a imperative skill that is commonly demonstrated, particularly after experiencing adversity. Being resilient doesn't mean we overcome change instantly, rather, we accept the situation and try to grow from the knowledge we gained. It's a sense of determination that pushes us to embrace all hardship, even when facing daunting odds. In my opinion, that's what resilience is; accepting misfortune, but continuing to grow as an individual. During the challenge, I experienced a negative mindset quite frequently. I was having thoughts of giving up, and in all honesty, I wanted to drop the entire project and take a break. But, in order for me to progress with STRIVE, these thoughts were necessary because they helped me to continue, and work harder then previously before. I believe that these thoughts are normal and everyone will encounter a rough patch eventually. In my eyes, that’s resilience. Being able to process these thoughts, and not letting them largely affect you. As I persevered, everything was clarified. Honestly, my group encountered quite a few difficulties throughout, but it provided us with the chance to learn and acknowledge the misfortunes. To our dismay, one member of my group ran away, which left us concerned and running around like headless chickens, if I'm being truthful. We communicated the problem to our teacher and managed to avoid any serious or dangerous situations. At one point, we also became lost. Obviously, we weren't entirely stranded, however, finding our way back was a struggle. Luckily, we were able to find another group and
