It is necessary for researchers to understand what methods should be used, know which methods are relevant to others or not, understand how research has been done and decide which methods are suitable to certain problem. The methodology chapter helps to evaluate and analyse research projects. In the Homeric Epic, women are cast into one of two dichotomous roles: that of the wise and faithful or that of the foolish and disloyal. However in Atwood’s The Penelopiad these roles are deconstructed such that they become fluid as opposed to concrete—such that the women do not wholly occupy one role or the other but rather move on a balance beam between the two, sometimes leaning nearer to one lateral or the other but never resting on the end points of either side. In the unfettered world of The Penelopiad, woman are granted the voices that they are denied in The Odyssey; they are free to weave their own epic stories of cunning, captivity, danger, victory, and failure. The Penelopiad therefore gives rise to a “new” woman who is not bound by Homeric conventions that confine reader to a singular understanding of The Odyssey and its characters; rather Atwood unveils a myriad of possibilities, explanations, and motivations behind the events of The Odyssey as they are imagined by Homer. Our minds are opened to realities and potentials either unconsidered, or considered but immediately abandoned for lack of emphasis, by the readers. We are made to ponder what seem to be obscurities and minor inconsistencies in The Odyssey that upon deeper exploration and analysis serve to completely revolutionize the conventional reading of The Odyssey in terms of the female characters. Atwood accomplishes this impressive feat by exploring the “dark alleyways” that lead us to alternate, but plausible, conclusions as evidenced by the expressions of the muted cast of The Odyssey—Penelope and the twelve hanged maids.…

    My Fall Semester Project

I thought that this fall semester project was fairly simple in the process that my group took to completing it. For this document based question essay, my group has had prior knowledge of the topic we chose which was the British having control over the colonists during the American Revolution. Since we had prior knowledge on this subject, it was pretty easy finding documents that we could use for our document based question. Most of the documents we chose were ones that we have already learned about in previous history classes. For example, some of the documents were acts passed during this time like the Stamp Act. We knew the effect that each individual act had on the colonists which helped our decision making progress. Some of the other documents that we used we found on some good American history document websites. These websites had hundreds of documents that had to do with the British and the colonists affairs during the American Revolution which gave my group plenty to choose from. Even though there were hundreds to choose from, only some had to do with the question and subject we were working with so that narrowed them down quite a bit. After finding the first 15 documents, we narrowed down the list to 10, taking out the least important ones. Some of the 15 documents were obviously less important than others which made it a lot easier to narrow down. After narrowing down the documents, one of the more difficult parts of the project came which was grouping the documents into 3 groups for the essay. One obvious group for our documents was the "act group" which had all of the acts and laws restricting colonists to do certain things during that time. The second group was the "big events group" which had all of the major events that the British did when controlling the colonists like the Boston Tea Party or the Boston Massacre. The final group was the "map, charts, etc. group" which had the charts or…

My uncle loves almost all kinds of music. I want to do something really special for him this year for his birthday since he is turning fifty! I think it would be pretty cool to have a special piece of music composed in honor of him at his birthday party since he is so fond of music. My uncle has three favorite composers which of Beethoven, Mozart and Bach. I think I may write a letter to Beethoven’s agent because out of all three composers, he happens to be someone my uncle enjoys and listens to the most.…

For my senior project, I will be learning how to crochet. Crocheting takes a lot of concentration, patience, and time which is why I decided to work on this because I have always been interested in trying this. Throughout all my hours working on my senior project which is volunteering at the Kids Unlimited after school program, I have achieved many duties that include being responsible for children. By doing that I had to show the kids how to be respectful, responsible and safe. I did many activities with the kindergarteners such as playing games, watching movies, coloring, helping with homework, and playing outside with them. The steps I took to plan this project of mine were to gain the skills and ability to be around little children.…

Stanislavski was called ‘Father of Modern Acting’ and staged many realist productions and staged many plays that were seen rejected by other theatres as being too realistic. However, he began to gain international recognition and became known as one of the best places to study acting. He also developed a system of acting and rehearsal techniques, which greatly impacted upon American and European acting. He was different and unique than others. He wanted to change the acting styles that other people were using at that time, because those acting styles were too melodramatic. He said, “All action on the stage must have an inner justification, be logical, coherent and real.”…
