Research Paper on Pepsi vs Coke
INTRODUCTION
In today’s era there is lots of competition in market because of which a clear differentiation is required to place your product in the market. Here marketing communication comes in a picture which enables the marketer to promote their product in a much better way.
Marketing communications is nothing but the science and art of communicating information that the company wants to tell to the public. The information could be related to the marketing of a product, talk about a new product launch or community initiatives taken by the company. The whole exercise is called a science and an art because though there are set rules and patterns to the manner in which communication should be drafted, the ability to communicate effectively is an art that only some can master. Even as just communicating may seem an easy task since that is what we do every day in our normal lives, there is a science behind what to communicate to whom and in what tone and manner. The process becomes more complex when the market to which one is communicating is an evolved market. let us take the example of the promotional emails that we receive almost every day. Any person who has some technology background will tell you that the communication is filled with embedded action scripts, flash, cookies and a lot of technological techniques to decipher your movement through the Internet. These are the best practices that are being used in marketing communications today.

In 1886, the Coca Cola Company was developed but it wasn 't until 1898 that the fierce competitor Pepsi-Cola entered into the market. These 2 companies are the two major players that dominate the consumer beverage (soft-drink) industry. Coke and Pepsi have since been competing to rein the global market in consumer beverages. The market of drinks in the United States alone is valued at more than thirty million dollars annually. With the growth of these two companies, PepsiCo has developed and acquired additional products outside the scope of just the consumer beverage industry, these products have helped the company to increase their exposure and position in the global market. Set in December 2000, immediately after the merger announcement between PepsiCo, Inc., and the Quaker Oats Company, this case asks to examine the implications of the merger for the rivalry between the Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo and for value creation by each firm. Because the merger would allow PepsiCo to control Gatorade, which held an 83% share in the sports-drink market, PepsiCo would further strengthen its already wide lead over Coca-Cola in the noncarbonated drinks segment. Between Coca Cola and PepsiCo, PepsiCo has a higher current ratio implying that the latter is more capable of paying its obligations. The debt management policies of Coca Cola in conjunction with share repurchase program and investment activity resulted in current liabilities exceeding current assets. From the ratio we can say that is PepsiCo suddenly had to pay all its short-term creditors, it would be able to do so and have a surplus of 44% of current assets. On the other hand if Coca Cola had to pay all its short-term obligations, it would have only 13% surplus of current assets after fully repaying all short term obligations. Therefore, it can be said that PepsiCo is more liquid than Coca Cola based on its current ratio.…
